1/9/2010-The wait was reasonable, and there was ample room to wait for a table. The design is some New York decorator's idea of what a lodge in Minnesota or Wisconsin would look like. There was a large freshwater fish tank that was great, and held the kids attention. We thought the decor would be entertaining for the kids, and the animatronic bears held our 2 year-old's attention. I don't know if the restaurant was understaffed, but our server brought our drinks almost immediately, and we didn't see him again for 15-20 minutes. We placed our order, and bread was brought within 5 minutes. Shortly thereafter our salads came oout, too quickly followed by our entrees. My salad, a tomato and red onion was good, but the onion was more bitter than usually used in a salad. My bison meatloaf was reasonably good, but was lukewarm, along with the average mashed potatoes and gravy, which were nearly cold. My wife said her Chicken Oscar was warmhot and to her liking, although the Hollandaise sauce was not to her liking. The chicken was initially delivered without the sauce, but the waiter caught the error a at the table. Our sons had mac and cheese (delivered without the side of green beans) and a cheeseburger (appered to have pink inside-raw ground beef is a bad idea, but especially with kids). I have to think the restaurant is not using a dispatcher to check orders before they are sent out, or they need a qualified one and quickly. Had we not had a long day, part of which was spent in a nearby emergency room, I likely would have asked to speak to a manager. I am a very understanding customer at restaurants, having bussed, cooked, and served tables myself, and rarely complain. The prices were a bit high for the quality of food served. But for the cold food, we might have considered returning. We'll stick with Charleston's across the street the next time we're in the area for supper.
