Edit in response: I should clarify that I felt the edge and groove on these skates (pictured) and there is no groove at all. Totally flat. This makes forward skating extremely difficult as there is no edge to push off of and increases sideways sliding. The edge was not sharp to the touch either and therefore difficult to have bite on the ice. I asked about switching skates but the employee intimated that all of the skates are new and would have the same issue. I would advise sharpening the skates to a different groove depth to be closer to 3/4" per sharpening diagrams. Thanks for the response.
Went to the Taylor Swift skate tonight. Would have been fun but the skates were all brand new and unsharpened. So unsafe. I fell multiple times even having experience on skates. I complained to the young staff that the skates weren't sharpened and they said only 2 people in management (presumably not there) "know how" to use the sharpener and confirmed that all of the skates were brand new. Ended my night early after sustainkng a terrible contusion on the heel of my hand. Really should not be holding open skate for novices with brand new skates. Basically setting people up to fail and get hurt. Take your own skates if possible.
