This B&B was startlingly eccentric. Being atheists, we stood gaping for a few seconds at the wall of Virgin Mary statues in the front entry hall. However, Gloria greeted us a few seconds later and we loved the place from then on.
We stayed on the third floor for the first night. The beds were really comfy but full sized (too small for a tall couple) so Gloria moved us downstairs to an open room with a King bed! That bed was even better and we had a great night's sleep.
The breakfast both mornings was fantastic with fresh fruit and pastries. However, talking to Dan and Gloria may have been the highlight of the trip. They obviously get great joy out of hosting travelers and were happy to hear and tell stories whenever we had them.
Oak Park is an awesome neighborhood and the B&B is no more than 7 minutes from the "L". We had a wonderful Sunday morning touring the Frank Lloyd Wright Houses immediately surrounding the house.
We would definitely stay at Under the Gingko Tree again. Thank you Gloria and Dan!
