My co-owner and I were at loggerheads with our condo board and the situation could have slipped over into litigation.  Zoe was a sympathetic listener and great at eliciting the facts she needed to know.  She carefully thought through the best way to deal with the problem at hand based on the realities of Illinois condo law.  There were several rounds of correspondence between Zoe and the board's attorney and they had a brief telephone meeting.  As a result the situation has stabilized and hopefully it can continue this way in the future.  To be honest I don't think anybody could have handled the situation better than Zoe did.A word of advice if you're an owner having problems with your condo board and thinking about hiring an attorney.  I looked up Zoe a year before I actually contacted her, and I should have done so then.  Unless your association is really small, your board will probably have access to an attorney who will also probably be a good one who is a specialist in the field.  Having your own good real estate attorney will really equalize the playing field for you.  Illinois condo law still favors the associations but it's evolving and and your board will take you far more seriously once you have an attorney representing you.  So if you're starting to think having a lawyer might really help in dealing with your condo association, it probably would and you should't delay.

I consulted with Zoe regarding a landlord matter & highly recommend her. From the very 1st interaction, I was very impressed with her professionalism. She dealt with the situation very quickly, was very communicative & obviously extremely intelligent. Not to mention she was very compassionate which is not a trait you find in a lawyer (I spoke with 2 male lawyers & had no desire to work with them). I was very impressed & cannot recommend her enough.

We consulted with Zoe regarding a landlord matter. I was very impressed with her professionalism and knowledge of Chicago real estate law. Although we didn't end up needing to retain her services, I wouldn't hesitate to reach out to her again. She really knows her stuff and will be very up front with you.
