We had the most incredible time with Finest Kind Sportfishing!! This was my second time out with them and Captain Brad. Beautiful morning watching the sun rise over Maui. My wife and I both caught 20lb+ Ono and we are going to be eating good the next few days. What an amazing experience, it was so beautiful out and Captain Brad made it a great experience. My only regret is that we would have booked the 8 hour instead of the 4hr because we didn't want it to end. We will definitely book with Finest Kind every time we are in Maui. Most experienced fishing crew I've ever been out with. Ive fished in the Pacific Northwest my whole life, you can't begin to understand the amount of time and effort that goes into this kind of work. The entire team is first class. If you're a fisherman you will see it for yourself. If you have little or no experience finishing, no matter what the outcome, understand you're with some of the finest fishermen in the world.
My son and I had a great time and highly recommend Finest Kind Fishing!

Brad and Tony were fantastic. without setting unrealistic expectations they told us up front what to expect. We hammered fish all day. 800$ + tip 8 hr uncomfortable boat ride, that’s what you will get and that’s it. They made 2 Google pages, I think to show 5 stars since their other one is only 4 with similar complaints. Their Yelp reviews are abysmal at 3 stars. Keep that in mind.
Called in to charter a fishing trip, Adam convinced us to do the 8hr. I’ve been fishing/chartered boats many times and wanted to take my husband to experience it.
First off, scheduling issues galore but we managed to get on the boat - he asked us to switch days promising there would only be one other couple so we did, changing our plans, but lo and behold we have a full group of 6 when we arrive.
Trolled for 8 hours with fake lures, asked about live bait or going for different fish and was told the fake lures get everything. Trying to talk to Anthony or Kapono (captain and deckhand) was like pulling teeth. I think we exchanged 6 sentences total and I was trying my best to at least learn about the island, fish, what they were doing if we weren’t going to catch anything. No one checked on us, only saw one of them switching lures occasionally and he’d go climb up to the top immediately. Didn’t touch a rod the whole trip, 0 bites, 0 conversation, 0 experience but sitting there in the bumpy ocean for 8 hours in diesel fumes.
Normally when nothing is biting they try to switch tactics or bait but literally this was the lowest effort possible. He changed artificial lures 3 times silently, left ASAP to sit on the top. I get that fish don’t always bite and I’m cool with that, but it’s pretty disappointing that they didn’t even bother to try new bait or tactics or at least talk to us about what was going on. I’m pretty understanding but this was the most expensive and worst fishing experience I’ve ever had. Adam sent pics of marlin being caught, said the boys were super excited to fish, said they would switch to live bait for tuna and Mahi mahi (never happened); and the actual experience was a 0/5. Do not come here!!!
(Asked and they said 50% of charters get 0 bites. Overheard the two talking about catching fresh bait for themselves as we were leaving. Such a disappointment..)
