image I was referred to Abbey Carpet and Floor Hawaii by my brother-in-law, who is a contractor. He recommended using Matt who is extremely professional, kind, and knowledgeable. He helped make this process so easy. This is not my area of expertise so I needed a company that I could trust and one that could help me through the process. I redid my entire condo with a combination of flooring and carpet. It turned out beautiful! Even better than I had imagined.and the entire team made this huge job so easy. The price is very fair and worth every penny for the quality of their workmanship. The condo that I live in has strict rules. Tony and his team were extremely respectful, friendly, and meticulous. Even my neighbors commented on how polite they were. They go above and beyond to respect your home while giving you the floors of your dreams! I understand why Abbey came so highly recommended. I am forever grateful!

Cons:
The overall installation was not finished as scheduled by Abbey. It was completed three weeks after the scheduled date.
From the second day work was not completed as scheduled. Per the owner this happened because: team lead had to leave by 2 pm each day (the whole team left at 2 pm), one person got sick, one persons car broke down, we didnt finish the molding/caulking but well finish it tomorrow, we forgot to caulk that one room, we ran out of flooring planks.
Each day of the installation process Abbey didnt complete what they scheduled to complete, yet my family met the schedule as far as moving the household goods (many very heavy/bulky items) from room to room to stay on the phased schedule set by Abbey. Moving a refrigerator or stove from the kitchen to another room, removing the water heater/toilets to make space in a condo for the flooring installation is very difficult. Then to come home at the end of the day to move things again and be told you cannot put things there because we didnt finish today so you need to put it somewhere else. Not much places in a condo that a refrigerator and/or stove, or bed can fit! Under a very stressful situation late into each night my family did it. We completed what we had to do on our end to keep the installation on schedule. This was critical as directed by Abbeys Furniture Moving Agreement. This agreement basically states that if the customer does not move everything (furniture, appliances, electronics, beds, etc.) out of the area to be installed then installation will not be completed and customer pays rescheduling fee of $250 - Im already paying enough for the flooring so I didnt want any additional costs.
On the last scheduled day of the install I was informed at the end of the day that they ran out of flooring planks. There was adequate underlayment, but not enough planks? Something didnt add up. Abbeys reply, We ran out of planks, we cannot find your remaining planks, so we have to order more.
The worst aspect of this ordeal with Abbey was the unnecessary stress put on my family because Abbey couldnt meet the schedule they set. Was the stress worth the new floor? Nope - I should have gone with another company. Sure you expect stress when you install flooring, but it has to be justified and reasonable, not due to the installation companys ineffectiveness and carelessness.
My explanation of concerns to the Abbey owner were met with excuses. This gave me the impression that what my family went through was no big deal to them. The replies from Abbeys owner was basically we make mistakes and we learn from it, 90% of the time we get the job done on time. What this says to me is well you're the one out of ten that we didnt get right but thats okay with us because we satisfied nine out of ten other customers. The replies of excuses missed the point and doesnt take into account what we as the customer unnecessarily went through. I understand things dont always go as planned, mistakes happen, calculation errors, butthis scheduled work was for six (6) work days and yet each day there was something that Abbey didnt get right that affected the overall schedule. With a reputable company this shouldnt happen.
I would have been a happy and satisfied customer if the owner actually took responsibility and accountability and instead of excuses STARTED her reply with, Im sorry, this should not have happened, no excuses. The apology she gave came after the excuses and as a second follow up email reply which really came out as an afterthought.
Hiring Abbey for our flooring installation turned out to be a terrible experience for my family and I regret going with this company. We had Mohawk Revwood laminate flooring installed so from our experience Abbey struggled with this and I do not recommend Abbey specifically for this type of flooring.

image We recently finished our home remodel & chose Abbey Carpet for the flooring throughout our home. We decided to check out their showroom after hearing positive things from other friends & family. First impression was lots of parking, then a very clean showroom and friendly greeter at the door. Our salesperson Matt Wagner asked us a few basic questions on what we were looking for and then sent us to the right area to browse. No pressure or following us around which I appreciated! When we were ready to ask some questions, he was very knowledgeable and friendly. The number of choices was mind-blowing! This is our first home, so I have never shopped for carpet before. Our dog and young son steered us to a stain & water-resistant carpet called SmartStrand Forever clean by Mohawk. Lots of colors to choose from and we landed on the mushroom cap. I didn't realize that the carpet pad was just as important as the quality of the actual carpet. Matt showed us the premium memory foam & moisture barrier pad. I was able to lay down on a large piece with the carpet on top and was sold! We had the carpet installed by a very professional 4-man crew. I had just painted the whole interior of our home white & all the trim was new also. I couldn't believe there was no accidental scratches or dings anywhere. That can happen to the best of us and we were informed it could happen by Matt ahead of time. Kudos to the crew! I am bad with names, but I remember the Uncle's nickname "Buddha". What a solid crew, Abbey give these guys a bonus for Christmas! Positive attitudes go a long way with me & they were full of Aloha.
BOTTOM LINE:
Great experience from start to finish & follow-up from our salesperson Matt Wagner. The carpet fells so good and was installed to perfection! I will refer them to all of my family and friends. I am a roofing contractor & strive to give my customers the same experience. Well done Abbey Carpet. The finishing touch on our remodel is done and adds the look and luxury we were dreaming of.
