image Storm Zeta crossed North Georgia and shared wind gusts of 40 to 60 MPH throughout the state, one night late in October 2020. The morning after Zeta I found that one of my tallest, trees was no longer standing but was suspended in a 60-degree angle held that way by a group of trees standing nearby. The falling tree, at least 130 feet tall, was full of huge branches all of which were tangled in the branches of the nearest four trees.
I couldn’t tell how badly tangled it was, but the J. H. Heath Tree Service sent their Arborist who said this tree is not likely to be falling anytime soon. He was right. The tree kept that 60-degree angle for more than two months. During wind and rainstorms into the new year. I scheduled a January 2021 removal with J.H. Heath.
Because I choose a company with a certified ISA Arborist, I could share my hope that the nearby trees that were holding this largest tree up, could themselves be saved.
I was so glad the team didn’t just take their powerful equipment and buzz cut all five trees and take the pieces away. The height of the four rescue trees is still there. The Heath company didn’t leave me with a hole in the tree canopy. I watched the crew study, calculate and perform complicated maneuvers at ground and tree level all just to untangle the one falling tree from among the four that held it up for so long.
On the ground under the tree drama was our eight-foot high fenced in area for pets. The Heath’s Arborist shared a good idea for protecting that fence and it worked. The heavy equipment and tree limbs chewed up the pet yard a great deal, but the crew moved some earth before they left and put the yard back together again as if they were never there.
Everything is well now. I highly recommend calling J. H. Heath for all types of tree care needs. They are a sizeable company with tons of equipment to carry any number and size of trees away. However, I will be a repeat customer because J. H. Heath also has the heart and skill to leave healthy trees safely in place. I highly recommend the Family Owned, J. H. Heath Tree Service Company. image Heath Tree Service worked on removing my neighbor's tree. They had to access our driveway to get to the tree. I asked them to do certain things so that we would be able to get in and out. They completely complied. They showed up exactly when they said they would over two different days. AND when they left, they completely cleaned our driveway, leaving no trace that they were here.

image We had several trees to cut and a few to thin out.
The sales guy who came here agreed that on several trees, they will cut multiple branches to thin these trees out.
But when the crew came, instead of getting rid of the branches that they needed to take out, they just took 4-5 smaller branches off. On another big tree they removed only 3 small branches. On the last day, the crew told me that they needed to get done with our trees today and that they will not be able to do what I was promised and quoted for by the sales guy. They were in a time crunch to finish the job that day because they brought the wrong equipment to clear trees out. They worked on our property for 2 ½ days and my husband even commended them on doing a good job in cutting the trees. On the 2 full days, they took very long lunches, then to tell me on the last day that they do not have enough time to properly complete what I was promised and paying for by thinning out the other trees.
The worst part of it was after they left.
We could not reach the sales guy anymore as he left the company, so we ended up talking to the owner, who was on the defensive side right away, argued with us on the phone as if we were lying. We were warned that the owner is a difficult and unprofessional man to work with.
He came to see for himself what was not done, he even acknowledged and agreed that on 2 of the trees, he will send the crew again to cut the branches that they needed to cut, but on the last tree he said he will not do anything and that was the tree where they had cut only 3 small branches.
He started to argue horribly with us, he told us we were contradicting ourselves, that what we were saying was not true, we even told him “so you think we are liars”, he never responded to that.
And finally the icing on the cake was, that he told me to go away as he cannot stand my presence and that he wants to talk only to my husband and deal this man to man. We were stunned when he said that, we thought that he, as the owner of the company would be more professional and apologetic and do what needed to be done and promised to us. However, he insulted us on our own property. His crew had way more manners than him.
We should have read the reviews from other people before calling this company, but we didn’t due to lack of time. After seeing now all the low score reviews about this company on several websites, I am not surprised at the tone of their response when customers are expressing their dissatisfaction.
So PLEASE. AVOID YOURSELF LOSING MONEY, TIME AND YOUR PEACE by getting insulted by such an individual like this owner who will tell you that he cannot stand your presence on your own property but still wants his money. So disrespectful and horrendous! I then left him with my husband as I could not stand his insult anymore, I told my husband that I do not want to see either him or his crew on our property anymore, he just deducted a small amount of the charge which after talking to another tree company should have been a substantial deduction as a big part of the job was not completed.
They may be good at cutting a tree which is a no brainer but not at thinning out trees.
We let him know that we are very dissatisfied with him on that day as we would have expected arguments from his crew but not from him, as an owner. I work in the customer service industry for a long time myself and I know for a fact, that you should come up with solutions not arguments. And especially as an owner, you should never be arguing with your customers, raising your voice at them and insulting them in their face.
We would NEVER, EVER RECOMMEND this company and I will not be surprised by his response if ever he does Services: Tree trimming and pruning, Tree removal

image Wanted one tree topped and brought in in general and another tree brought in because it was getting so wide. I envisioned them going around and bringing in the entire tree. Instead, they just took 4-5 main branches off and left the rest. The tree is even more unwieldy this year than the last couple. Guess I’ll be getting out my ladder and telescoping branch cutter and doing it myself like the past couple years. Not impressed with my first call to a tree service. Usually do it myself, but I couldn’t get high enough, which is why I tried to call in the “pros”
After reading the response from the company, I am even more displeased. The work was performed on a Friday. My wife and I were both home (incorrect in their response). The crew was eager to leave in the afternoon. They did not do a walkthrough with me (which I pointed out via my email complaint). They did a good job in the back yard in the morning. They took a two hour lunch break and returned to work on my primary reasons for the service call in the afternoon (two front trees). They topped one of them and called it a day even though the shape was horrific (boxy and still had branches sticking out in all directions, including toward the house). They cut 4 main branches from the other rather than actually pruning it and bringing it in overall. I explained all of this via email, and they act like it was word of mouth or forgot the story at this point. I still have the emails.
A different crew came out a few days later and “finished up.” The tree the first crew cut down had a 5-foot stump that they cut down to 2 feet like a stump should be. They cut a couple branches on the front tree hanging toward the house, but did not clean up the shape. They didn’t clean up the shape of the other front tree at all and their response was “what do you expect us to do, cut all the small branches?” YES! Haha that’s what I paid you to do. “Bring it in in general”. See below for a picture of what is in my yard after cleaning up their work to my expectations.
This is the exact reason I do not hire companies. Extremely overpriced for a job that doesn’t meet expectations. Wouldn’t recommend this company in the least, especially after their dishonest response (when everything is documented in email)
