My contract specifically stated that the closing was to be done at the firm of my choice. However, my buyer was using a relocation company and they insisted on using McMichael & Gray. I ultimately agreed which was a huge mistake. They double charged me on some $500 fee which my realtor has been trying to get me reimbursed for almost 2 months now. Additionally, the sales contract stated that the buyer requested the gas tank for the fireplace be filled at his expense. That $240 expense should have been reimbursed to me at closing and it was not. I contacted Stephanie Billings, the closer at McMichael & Gray, regarding both matters. She did not address the overcharge but replied as to the propane gas reimbursement stating that basically, it wasnt their concern. It was in the contract and as the closing attorney, it IS their concern. Since neither my realtor nor I have been successful in resolving the matter with McMichael & Gray, I am filing a bar complaint.
