Im happy to have worked with transactional lawyers and trial lawyers at Krevolin & Horst for almost twenty years now. Ive also had some occasions to work with lawyers at some of the largest law firms in the world, and in terms of legal acumen, expertise, and client focused services, from my experience, the lawyers at K&H are truly not topped by any lawyers at any firm I've ever known. Another thing that has always impressed me about K&H, is their true commitment to diversity, both in hiring and in the clients they work with. Law firms with hundreds or thousands of lawyers and support staff can afford to hire a full time Chief Diversity Officer to make sure the firm is in compliance in that area. But at a boutique firm like K&H, focusing on diversity in hiring and client selection comes down to a commitment from the folks with their names on the door, the senior partners, associates and most especially the support staff; it must be a firm wide commitment. Clearly Doug Krevolin and Jeff Horst made this commitment many years ago and the lawyers and staff at K&H follow through on that commitment every day. Finally, I must add a somewhat less serious note about working with the lawyers and staff at K&H. They are fun to work with. Legal issues are rarely fun, but there is a spirit among the entire firms that makes a difficult matter easier to handle. Ive been involved in litigation situations that were extremely stressful, and business transactions that were very complicated, and in both situations, the lawyers and support staff seemingly without effort, made both situations not just more tolerable, but actually enjoyable. Called the firm as a prospective client seeking potential legal assistance in a banking matter. The matter being a misapplied deposit of $100k by my banking institution. The Secretary, an older woman, came across as being very rude and assumptive. Before explaining to her the exact amount of my legal claim she automatically assumed it would be something the firm wouldnt handle, and that my legal claim would be below their $100k threshold. Maybe if the natural tone of my voice was indicative of another ethnicity I wouldve received a less dismissive reception. Who knows. Not at all welcoming or accommodating from a potential client standpoint. Go with someone else.
