image Aveda Tallahassee has been quite a three ring circus lately. The property manager at Pensacola Street did not renew their lease for some odd reason and they will be closing the entire location and operation at this location in June 2024 which is just as well as It has become stressful to get any decent service there recently.

image Arahim did an excellent job on my hair. I was a little nervous having a student trim and color my hair, but knowing that she is in the master level gave me a little peace of mind. PLUSbeing a nurse I understand the need to practice the skills that we are taught in school and the need to practice. Plus, I knew my hair would grow back and the instructors would be around.
Arahim did a really impressive job on my hair color and especially my trim. I have curly hair and learned that I have a natural shape which I never knew, but was able to see the next day! My color was just a touch up on my greys (I am at the stage in my life ) and enhanced the color on my ends (its ombr). It looked refreshed and I never realized how much of a difference it would make (Im not big on chemicals so dont get my hair colored often) in my look (aka younger ). I LOVE what Aveda has to offer because Im all about natural products and absolutely LOVE their students! I am soooo sad they are shutting down their Tallahassee location because I truly believe in their mission.
AlsoIve read some bad reviews, but I take reviews like that with a grain of salt. 1. You sign a waiver with the understanding that these are STUDENTS! 2. Did you forget that youve been a student before. 3. It takes practice to craft perfection 4. Some people dont know how to give grace to others. If you WANT the Instagram look, go and PAY the Instagram look money! People

image The worst 60 minute facial I got ever. The student who did my facial barely touched my face, all she did was putting a clay mask. I would never recommend anyone to go for facial. A big NO!

image Every bad review is true. I worked here for 3 very short months, there was black mold being spewed through the entire building WITH PREGNANT WOMEN inside going to classes, the director kept it a big secret. Every higher up employee started quitting and resigning, they had about 7 different Admissions directors, a financial aid manager who had simply no clue and students being taught by instructors who just didn't care or want to be there. I've been with Aveda for over 20 years and this was the most disgusting representation of the Aveda name BY FAR!!! And Chelsea, who works as the Admissions manager in Orlando did the training, lets just say when she left no one had a clue. She told us to "pretend" to do cold calls but just leave a text and say you called bc people don't answer these days. Extremely condescending and NOT passionate about Aveda just money.

image Lets just say I walked in wanting a wolf cut and walked out wanting a wig. Its just hair. Its not the end of the world. But this is going to be a spiritual journey of regaining my confidence. Maybe I should be grateful that they stripped away the conventional beauty standards I always found fairly cushiony and taught me true beauty frankly Id rather still have my hair and perhaps be a little vain.
I came in with the two reference photos attached. I had shoulder length hair that I wanted cut into a wolf cut somewhere between the two photos shown. The back of my head was previously shaved and only had about an inch of growth which I understood AFTERWARDS presented a bit of a challenge but if they didnt think they could do it I wish they would have just told me instead of chopping my hair so short and giving me what one may describe as a lesbian vegan soccer mom style. The student stylist understood the assignment and was doing great (absolutely none of this was her fault). Until about halfway through the cut when one of the teachers, Mandy, took over and completely ruined the vision we had created. She cut my hair way too short. Asked how I wanted my bangs and then did something different, overall I dont think she even took the time to understand what I wanted and instead just cut MY hair how SHE wanted. The color is wrong too as I wanted burgundy and got a very strong red but it feels like the least of my concerns when I have a haircut that in itself is perfectly fine but does not fit me once so ever. I couldnt tell her in person because I was afraid saying how much I hated it would bring on the tears and I want to say Im above crying over temporary looks but now that its set in that Im stuck being embarrassed by my hair, which has always been a huge part of my style, for months its a little harder to be so nonchalant about it.
