We have been in this restaurant twice and the food and service have been incredible. This is by far the best restaurant in St Augustine. We will be visiting again this weekend and have just made another reservation.

and a group of 21 others dined at La Pentola today. While the menu is a bit on the pricey side, the food is usually good. Our server told us that many of the entrees come with a green side salad, but for a $3.50 we could "upgrade" to a ceasar salad, which is the best one he ever had. I and several others ordered the caesar and then two of us asked for anchovies on top, The salad came on a 6" plate and looked suspeciously just like the green salad only with salad ceasar dressing and tortilla strips (? on a ceasar?). Two of us got 3 anchovies on top. Tiny tiny salad for a $3.50 uncharge? We get the bill and they charge $3 additional for the anchovies...$1 for each little fishy!!! So a total of $6.50 extra for a tiny green salad. We asked the server to speak to the owner and express our displeasure with these extra charges. She finally came out and basically told us too bad that's what we charge (we were not told about the $3 charge for the anchovies) One of the other diners ordered the 1/2 a duck entree. It was 1/4 of a duck. And again we were told too bad that's what it is.
We are locals, not tourists and restaurant was totally empty and I asked the owner if they were so busy that they could afford to lose the business of at least 15 locals? She shrugged her shoulders and walked away.
Needless to say at least 15 of the 22 of us will not return. Such a shame.
No surprise...this restaurant is now closed.

We were planning to grab drinks at the Tini Martini Bar and found this hidden gem at its back door. Very accommodating to our table of four as a walk in close to closing time. We enjoyed crab soup and cheviche as appetizers and the special seafood pasta with arrabita sauce featuring shrimp, scallops, and a whole lobster tail! Delicious! Beer, wine, and sangria was great too! Side salads were some of the best we’ve had as well. We will be back for sure.
