I have been using Joe Blount for over 8 years, and he has always done good work. In March of 2012 I hired Joe to re-sod my lawn in my new house, as he had done in our previous house. I had never had an issue with Joe in the past, so I gave him the money up front, which was $2400. According to the receipt he gave me, this was to cover both materials and labor. He sent one of his guys out who stayed at the house about an hour per day for a couple of weeks. Absolutely nothing was getting done, then finally I told Joe I would like a refund so I could hire another company to do the work. Joe dragged his feet, avoided my calls, emails, and text messages until finally responding saying he would refund my money.I pestered him every couple weeks about the status of my refund. He was very late in responding to any of my inquiries, then tells me that he had a big job going on and he would pay me when he got paid. Over 4 months later, I still have not received my money, and every time I email or call him, his response is that he was in the hospital and will get me the money. A couple weeks ago, he responded that he was still waiting to get paid from the other job he had, and the client was withholding his payment until he fixed some things. I sent him a message telling him I was going to pursue legal action, and he responded that he only had $5 to his name and wouldn't be able to pay me back.Joe spent the money I gave him for material and labor before ever performing any work, which is why he was unable to refund my money. I even reached out in good faith to Joe to let him work some of the debt down by doing miscellaneous repairs we needed around the house, and he replied that he was interested, but continued to duck all of my communications.
