My hubs had her as a lawyer. She was alright for a somewhat of a budget lawyer. She was on time to the ONE mitigation he had. He never had to appear in court just at the other parties lawyer's office. Child custody order was being updated. Negatives: we had to stay on top of her regarding responding to our requests or updating us on the status of the case. The case dragged out for a FREAKING YEAR. Part of the problem was the other parties lawyer was also dragging their feet with the case. Yall know these lawyers are all in cahoots with each other. They are either former colleagues or have had previous trials together. Sometimes I think they try to get as much money out of people as possible and working the system together. Not saying Ms. Clayton was doing that but you never know. On the other hand, some of the family court judges push dates back on their calendar especially around holidays so that can also delay your cases. We also caution you to be aware of her pricing. She charges a retainer as all lawyers do. I think it was $500 or $1000. The total bill sent to us after the final meeting was $3200. That price caught us totally off guard. I CAUTION you to advise her of the MAX you are willing or able to pay. Or better, DON'T give her your max because she might make sure you reach your max budget and the services may not even amount to your max. Have CONTINUOUSLY conversations with her about her fees. For example, Mrs Clayton please inform me when my bill increases by $100 because I'm not going pass a certain amount (keep the MAX amount to yourself). And most importantly, Document, document, document everything!!! Goodluck folks!

She’s a great attorney and she has a lot of experience. I spoke with a few other attorneys in the Jacksonville area and also one from another city. The other attorneys just were not a good fit for me and what I was actually looking for. I came across Mrs. Clayton via Online search. I also did some research regarding my case before I started talking to different attorneys. She has been a big help. I greatly appreciate her services. Also she’s very affordable.

I met with Mrs. Clayton in May of 2017, and she explained to me that she would charge me 500.00 to retain as a lawyer . Don't get me wrong. She seems very sweet . It was not easy coming up with the money but I did. She was late showing up before court so we didn't have much time to speak before the court hearing which was for child support enforcement and increase. Initially she seemed so confident but once we appeared in court became timid. She really did not put up a fight. Before she appeared to be knowledgeable but did not prove that in court. The court basically ruled a decision that was made by Child support lawyer and was done whether she attended or not. My child has a disability, I make minimum wage and sons father makes 30,000 more than me. I was told by her that in order to challenge those things I had to go to family court, more expensive and separate fees. I also found out later after speaking with the state that it was not true and the lawyer should have had the education behind that. I also found out the day of court that she was colleagues with my sons father lawyer and had been speaking with him in which could hurt my case since I am the one paying the fees. This is September of 2017 and I still have not received an increase for child support. Mrs. Clayton advise there are separate fees to go after the system. It seems a real lawyer would see the case through even if its 500.00. Before my case was completed I referred her to a friend and she had already used her as lawyer before I could warn her and found out we both had very similar issues with this lawyer. I DONT believe she has the knowledge behind the laws and seems like appears to be given you a break by charging 500.00 but only showing up to court for appearance. After speaking with my good friend, its sad were in the same situation with the lawyer, I have been getting the run around with the child support office and just cant get any help anywhere so I gave up. I feel bad I made a bad choice of lawyer and more so referred to my friend only to go through the same situation.

Honestly, I WOULDN'T rate this review 1 star, it was clearly a negative......This was one of the worst experiences, I'd ever experienced, it caused more grief, heartache, pain, stress, time and extra money I didn't have. I thought that this attorney cared but she didn't. It was inevitable in actions and in words, in my opinion, this attorney lied to me the whole way through. I had to get numerous of second opinions from different consultants with other attorney's and firms, I spent countsless time calling around, and speaking and meeting with other legal professionals, and they all told me the same thing that Kim Clayton DIDN'T advise and tell me as my legal counsel. She was late showing up to both hearings that was scheduled. She was very un-organized on the date of the hearings, she advised me to meet her there at a specific time and she didn't show up until close to the time of the hearing, so we DIDN'T have time to debrief, as counsel TO client or vice versa. In my opinion, she was unprepared for my case. Also, in my opinion, it appears that she's doing you a favor in working with you when it comes to payment arrangements in paying your legal fees, but truth be told she DIDN'T fight for me at all.... NEITHER did she address my concerns in the hearing. When it was time for her to speak on my behalf, she said very few words and appeared to be very apprehensive when speaking. And it was literally a disgrace!! In my opinion, don't waste your time or money... You really have to know who you're doing business with, check reviews, call BBB and inquire if any complaints have been filed or see if these attorney's have been reported for any or other issues. And also see if they have been repremend by the Florida bar association for defulging client and attorney privileges information and etc!!!!!.. You'll be surprised what information you'll find out!!... Ask your potential attorney questions!!! No questions are the only dumb questions, don't be afraid, they work for you and without our hard working money it wouldn't be possible!!!!!. That's how successful attorney's build their case reputation, through success only and NOT through cheating people through an open opportunity, they see to get over, shame on you, if this is what you have resulted too! Attorneys, take an oath to service and to represent and to fight legally. Most people are NOT fourtunate and some people don't have money to be wasting, especially when you are a honest person/ parent that's doing the very best that you can do by the system, but most of all doing good by your children. I gave my last obtaining her as legal counsel and nothing, I mean zero 🚫.... I understand that every battle we can't win, and I also understand that life sometimes can feel or seen unfair; but I believe in our justice system, but you have to know law and your rights and responsibilities. It was evident of dishonesty that could be clearly seen and heard from the other party in my pettition. Just always do you research 🔁☎️💻📖 it's 💯% free, and sometimes you have to fight for yourself don't just believe what they tell you.... DO your research prior and ongoing, speak with you potential attorney about all findings, so you'll know what options you have. Call your local family law services in your county, find out what your options are, speak to a case manager. I don't wish bad on anyone dispite their wrong doings they do to me, I pray that God will touch the heart of people like only HE can. And I pray for forgiveness for them, as I pray for myself when I err up. We as individuals are NOT authorize to do people wrong. Every person who we come in contact with, we should always do our best by them. All I'm saying is inform yourselves also be informative of ALL your rights and responsibilities you have.
