I spend a lot of time in the brand new chemistry and biology buildings at CSU, both of which cost in excess of $50 million dollars. These building contracts were paid for in large part with tax dollars. This company is on site every day.
Nevertheless, they were months behind in delivering possession to both buildings. In addition, they left many messes behind that required additional tax dollars to remedy, such as: paint on carpet, concrete on tiled floors, grout on counters tops and bathroom stall doors, and large stains on glass windows well out of reach of a reasonable consumer. Additionally, it took additional months (not weeks) for the correct locks to be installed in Biology, requiring masking tape to be used to secure the bolt on doors in conference rooms and classrooms.
Furthermore, there are huge problems with flies in both buildings because the buildings are not sealed from top to bottom, and gaps exist under particular doors and windows. The company seems unresponsive to these fly problems as I personally delivered notice to a senior member of general contractor's staff one day while he was lounging in the penthouse conference room at Chemistry. Taxpayer dollars have been expended on pest control, but they identified the problem as stemming from the aforementioned construction defects.
At bottom, this is not the company I would choose if I were talking a large construction outlay as they simply seem more set on "substantially performing," than crossing all the T's and dotting the I's for buildings that will stand for decades.
