Asher helped me build my dream home in 2021-2022. I started the process in a very tumultuous market - rapidly changing demand, supply, material and labor costs. They helped me navigate it all with expertise, empathy and flexibility. They designed and built a beautiful, high quality home that fit my lifestyle and personality. I was able to provide input and pick out exactly what I wanted at every step. When we encountered the inevitable challenges that come with a custom build, they got creative and problem-solved like the pros they are. My house was by no means their biggest or most important project, but they never made me feel that way. The entire team - Ed, Jason, Nick, Rob, Tracy and Marcia - went out of their way to take good care of my home and me. They made the process easy and fun, and Id do it again in a heartbeat. Every member of our team was incredible to -- they happily and patiently answered our seemingly endless questions and quelled our concerns when they arose. They helped us ensure that property we chose worked for the house we wanted to build and they placed the house just perfectly to take advantage of the incredible views. The quality of our home is unsurpassed. Throughout the entire build our team kept us informed, on track and on budget. We just moved into our home in December 2021. It has literally been a dream come true for us thanks to Asher Custom Homes. After meeting with Edward Asher, we knew this is who we wanted to build with. They have gone above and beyond to make this a truly amazing experience and we can't thank them enough. A special thanks to Edward, Derrell, Mini, Marsha and Wayne for all your hard work and dedication to making our new home what it is. We had to make some special modifications to make it handicap accessible and they were knowledgeable and eager to do whatever they could to make our home beautiful, comfortable and livable as possible. This is a warning to potential clients of Asher. I am a long time local here in Durango since 1993, and have been working in construction for 28 years. I have seen many contractors come and go here in Durango, with Asher being one of the most recent late comers to Durango, as he bought out the already established Kogan Builders just within the past 3 years.
Recently, I have gotten calls through my network of contractors that Ed Asher is asking for other established contractors to come in and project manage his jobs. He has taken more projects than he has the staff to handle and does not have the people to run the jobs effectively.
As much as I respect anyone trying to make a living here in Durango, I feel compelled to write this review for the sake of clients who may be considering hiring Asher. There are many other contractors in Durango who provide high quality results with superior service. If you choose to hire Ed Asher, just be aware that he's big on selling jobs, but short on staff to manage the projects.
And replying to Ashers denial: Asher custom homes has indeed been putting out the word around town to local contractors asking if anyone can come to their jobs to help project manage due to the fact that theyve sold more work than they can handle. And yes, Ed Asher just recently bought an already established business, he is not the one who built the business- it was Kogan. I made this post truly to try and help potential clients from getting involved with a business man new to town whos already shown questionable ethics here in Durango.
