Unfortunately I was disappointed with what should be an easy, inexpensive return policy for a new, unopened, Lutron lighting 3-way dimmer; standard in stock inventory at other CES locations. I was not permitted a $50 return, sadly. I dont have any such issue with returns at Home Depot, Lowes, Ace or Amazon. Funny how that works.

This starts as a DIY heat tape issue gone wrong.
I bought 240' of cheap/plug-in 120V heat tape on amazon for around $120. My breaker box already had a 20A FGI breaker labelled "heat tape" and I found where the circuit went oustide. There wasn't an outlet on it, so I installed one, ran the heat tape, and plugged it in. It worked great for about an hour and stopped (GFI tripped).
That's when I found out what a 240V breaker looks like (hint, it appears as a double throw like 2 breakers tied together). This meant that the heat tape I had installed likely overheated and was now ruined. Lesson learned.
I needed to replace the heat tape and after talking with Cole at CES, I opted for the Warmup brand heat tape for 240V circuits. This is more efficient by a good deal in that it is self regulating. It also is much hardier and seems to do the job very well so far.
I felt like an idiot, but Cole was super helpful and understanding. Even encouraging. While in the store, there were about 4 customers even offering help/encouragement. Great experience and helpfulness.
I have now re-run the tape, and hired an electrician to hook it up to be sure. It's working great, saving me money, and prevent ice dams.
A big thanks to Cole and his customers!
