Possibly the smartest, kindest, most diverse, & least dogmatic group of activists in the Bay Area. I'm not a fan of churches, but this one lives up to its Commitment, dating back to its radical founding in the mid-1900s: "I desire to share in the spiritual growth and ethical awareness of people of varied national, cultural, racial, and creedal heritage...with the imperative of personal dedication to the working out of God's purpose here and in all places."

How are there not more people going to this church? It's one of the most progressive bay area-style places I've seen. Need an example? Just this last Sunday they held a special service to honor the Transgender Day of Remembrance. According to their website, it was established in the 1940's because folks were "deeply concerned with the absence of bridges of understanding among the varied races, cultures, and faiths presented in American society"Sound familiar? Hope more folks find their way to this modest and open space.PS:Inside, the area for worship is upstairs.

I'm gonna spare you the hyperbole. This is a really nice place, with wonderful people. You can hear yourself think. No pressure to believe anything in particular, but you can't help but deepen your faith, your depth, by coming here, interacting with the congregants and singing the songs. More later.
