What a strange stay! First, the good: great access to Union Square and other points of interest, BART connections, bars and restaurants. Beautiful historic property thats been decently maintained. The bad: the hotel isn't in the best area and there are homeless on just about every square inch of street. I know this isn't the property's fault, but it is worth mentioning. First night, there are multiple misdirected calls to my room from the same person asking for the same person. Weird. Room service arrives with a tray of food and wine insisting I ordered it and that I take it. I argue that I did not and after some back and forth, they grumble and leave. Then I'm called about towels. How many was I needing? Again, I insisted that I didn't ask for towels and they insisted I did. Second night, uber eats is denied access to my room "for safety reasons." Fair enough. But then, again, random people patched through to my room on the phone. I ended up taking it off the hook. I mentioned this at check at but they couldn't have cared less.

Room was not worth the $856 for 3 nights. Parking is off site at another hotel 2 blocks away which is strange and it's $45 a night. I asked for room service twice and both times no one came so all 3 nights no one serviced our room. Room was okay, TVs need to be updated for the price. No one took our bags to the room we had to use the looby cart and take them up ourselves. Would not stay at this place. Not worth it. Area the hotel is situated in is not safe after 6pm, when I went the Walgreens a street over was being robbed and at 5am its so loud with homeless blasting their radios

Love the look & feel of the hotel. It has old warm charm. The location is fantastic. You are minutes from Union Square and all the shopping. Also great for getting to financial dist. The Spanish restaurant in hotel is great. However, the front desk service is hit or miss.
