image Apparently there are union negotiations going on at the hotel so we were waked up at 7 am by protestors with megaphones. Apparently this is going on for a few days prior to our arrival, I wish the hotel would advise us prior or at least made an attempt at compensating the guests for this.

image Love the location of Hotel Maya - Long Beach CA. It feels like you are away from the city since you get a great view of the downtown skyline. The pool is comfortably located with Shoreline Village & ocean views. They have created a great atmosphere with outdoor fire pits on a beach front. So Cool! If you want a quick getaway and not go far. This place is the one to go to. My family always stays here when they come to Long Beach. A great place to view the 4th of July fireworks. There was one security guard there that didnt really know what he was doing but the hotel staff is nice. See you at the pool!

image Beautiful location... But that's where it ends. The rooms are not functional. No outlets near the bed.. Which became a hassle since my husband has sleep apnea and needs a C-Pap to breathe at night. We actually had to buy extension cords to plug our phones in overnight. Says it's eco friendly but the toilet has a HUGE tank... Definitely not regulatory for California. Must have been DOUBLE the size of most tanks. And took FOREVER to fill up. The fridge barely got cold. When I asked the FD why it wasn't getting cold and if it could be made colder could thru do that? He said the fridges were meant to be over 35 degrees. I said well I have diabetes and need to keep my meds cold. And also mentioned food can get bacteria just by being in that fridge. He says they weren't meant for stuff like that. So the fridge is useless. They made zero effort to make the situation better. Because their management simply doesn't care. I ended up having to put ice in an ice bucket just so my medication wouldn't SPOIL! There is no coffee and tea available 24 hours like most Hilton properties. They don't even offer hot water and tea matter fact. But have the audacity to charge the amount they do.. oh and get this NO COFFEE LIDS... Which is a liability. If the customer burns themselves. The same reason Starbucks HAS to give you your hot drink with a lid on it. The staff says they haven't had lids in 6 DAYS.. that is ridiculous. And shows the management makes zero effort to pay attention to their inventory. Limited selection in their hotel store. Elevators are worn out.. scary ride.. When you call from an outside number, they NEVER answer.. Only way you're talking to front desk is if you call from the room. The management needs to address these issues.. And not just say they will. But actually do it.. I'm a Hilton employee. I have worked for 3 properties so I notice the difference.. And how it's run. Yes I can't complain because I get discounts. But for everyone else paying full price.. This is just horrible. And I feel bad for them. Hospitality is also in the upkeep of the property. Not just nice people paid to be that way. I am actually an employee that CARES about the customers experience. The management here clearly does not..I hope they improve. Because the view is nice.

image Love this hotel. Stayed there last weekend for the Boots in the Park festival for a group mother daughter weekend, special time. We enjoyed concert but drinks were $20 at concert and it got very cold. We decided to walk back to hotel to have a glass of wine and enjoy view and remaining time at the Maya. We ordered our glass of wine then were approached by management that he was told we were drunk and now could not be served. I was appauled. I had not had a drink since my 2pm glass of champagne at our room. I felt discriminated and shocked! I still love the hotel but very unsure about their service...just saying. What would you do?
Noteworthy details: Great view!
