image I had one of the worst company that I had in my entire career. At the time they were producing 23 gigahertz microwave systems. At the suggestion of a local manufacturers representative, I purchased a system with the video carrier and a sub carrier for RS-422. I spoke directly with the manufacturer about its capability a Vicon VPS 1200 control system. I mentioned that Vicon used A non-standard RS-422 communications protocol. The response was they had installed a Vicon system at Kennedy Space Center with the microwave model I was considering purchasing. I ordered the system, my technicians installed it and the communications did not work. I contacted the manufacturer and spoke directly to the VP of Sales who had told me the system would work. He basically told me I didn't know what I was talking about and that we just weren't competent. I suggested that they come out and take a look. He informed me that there was a charge to do that and I told him I thought that was unreasonable since the system didn't function as they said it would. We agreed that the Southwest Microwave technicians would come out and I would pay only if I was wrong and it was simply an installation problem. The Southwest Microwave technicians showed up we demonstrated to them that there was a voltage difference between what the Vicon system needed and what their carrier was capable of. They provided a modification and the system worked.
During The same period of time I had purchased a video only microwave system for another customer. We installed the system and it failed after a week. We returned the microwave to have it repaired. A week later the vice president of sales called me and said the system had been repaired and they would ship it to me as soon as I paid for the technicians coming out at the other site which of course we had agreed that I wouldn't pay if it wasn't my company's fault. His response was, I didn't think you'd really take me up on that. So I confirmed that he would not send me my microwave back and I went to the manufacturer's representative I had dealt with and explained the situation. As a result, the manufacturers representative dropped the line and I ordered a video microwave system from Macom which I had used in the past and considered an excellent product. A month later the vice president of sales from Southwest microwave called me again said the microwave was still there didn't I want to take care of my customer. I said of course I want to take care of them. I already had. I explained to him that I had purchased a system from another Macom. He told me he thought it was lying, and that there was no way I would have spent several thousand dollars to take care of a customer. I guess that explains the difference in his idea of customer care and mine.
It was long ago and I believe the VP is no longer with the company. I wish Google reviews existed back when it happened, but better late than never.
I would recommend you buy from any other company that has an equivalent product.
