I completely understand how frustrating a claim denial can be and recognize there was a misunderstanding about who was insuring a vehicle your business owned that your son had with him while living away from home. We’ve addressed this with the claims team and our insurance carrier. When we establish a homeowners policy, we ask the insured to provide us details such as, how many bathrooms there are, what kind of countertops and floors are in the house, etc. Though it’s frequently possible to get a lot of these details online, we recognize there are likely features only noticeable in person and appreciate our customers filling in those blanks. After that, we only know about changes to the home the customer informs us about. Installing a pool is an excellent example of something to discuss with the insurance company, as this not only impacts reconstruction values, but may also impact liability coverage needs. These conversations, as well as annual insurance reviews, are the best ways to avoid underinsurance situations. There was certainly a breakdown of communication that led us to not be the best agency to meet your needs and truly hope you’ve found a great fit with your new provider.
