After four years + 2 months the water softener we purchased from this company began to leak. . . through a crack in the neck of the tank. We called the 800 number on the unit and were told the warranty was only good for ONE year due to the fact that someone else [Sonlight Home Improvement] had installed the unit, which meant them [American Home name on unit â–º AmeriFlow Water system name on Warranty Cert.], did not make as much if they had installed the unit. I then called Russ at Sonlight and told him about the problem. He indicated that the warranty was for 5 years and then told me the it would be $300 to replace the tank. When I objected he got into political tirade about how tough it is for business due to high costs due to multitude his reasons. He also wanted to blame the problem on high water pressure. We also called American Home to see if they could do something. They sent over a sale person who could not do anything except charge us some $75 and did nothing about the problem. . . they did verify that the water pressure was average or low @ 60lb. A second call with Sonlight in an effort to get some thing fixed for a reasonalble cost resulted in a $250 fee and another round of political garbage. A review of the warranty paper work shows that the warranty is a 25 years, which in review is not worth the paper it is written on.
Since then, we bought another system, which seems to be working very well and MUCH better than what we had originally had purchased. With the original system the water never did feel soft, with the new system, we can actually feel the softened water. We now question the effectiveness of the original Sonlight Install and wonder if it was even working as advertised.
