Diamond in the rough. Hidden in Mid-Town with all local eateries and night life just outside your door. Great outdoor style, fresh air and canal access. Never seen a roach in 2yrs of living here. Affordable rent and modern design.

Lived here for two years in a 1 bedroom.
The good:
1. Tina in the front office is the GOAT and always quickly helped me deal with any issues I had
2. The base rent is inexpensive for this area - especially for a 2 bedroom
3. None of the luxury apartment extra fees that the newer apartments in this area try and tack on
4. Location is great, lots of cute stuff in the area, back gate goes directly to the Grand Canal and walking distance to the lightrail and Lux Coffee (highly recommend)
5. They dont nickle-and-dime you for damages on move-out, as long as you clean you should be fine
The bad:
1. Older building = older building problems. I had several plumbing emergencies when I lived here, which were handled quickly but still frustrating. The AC units are old and loud, and units have the wear-and-tear that you'd expect from a building from the 70's
2. Shared utilities: electric is split among all of the tenants. I think this causes people to run their AC like crazy, because it feels pointless to be conservative when the bill will be split among the whole complex. The utilities were routinely significantly higher than they are when you are billed for just your unit and are careful with your electric use
3. Soundproofing between units: My first upstairs neighbor was very quiet but what ultimately made me move out was a guy moving in upstairs that walked with a heavy step. After talking to other first-floor tenants, I found out that pretty much everyone can hear their upstairs neighbors movements (and conversations). I talked to the guy and the front office did everything they could to help (offering to send noise complaints or switch my lease to a new unit) but ultimately the guy upstairs wasnt even crazy loud - its just a super old building so the floors/ceilings are thin.
All in all I would recommend, but I would say do your best to get a top-floor apartment, unless you want to very intimately know your upstairs neighbors life and routines. If you split one of the two-beds between two people its the lowest rent you can get in the Midtown area.

Leasing and Maintenance staff are doing a wonderful job! They very quickly respond to any issues or maintenance requests (big or small). Property is well kept and in a great location. With only a few minutes walk from great restaurants and light rail, its a great place to live.

Icon on Central has been a wonderful place to live! The apartments are beautiful, with large bedrooms and an open living space. The staff has always been quick to respond to maintenance issues and always communicates with residents. Additionally, maintenance has done a great job keeping the property clean and pleasing to look at. The location is great, safe and secure with an entry gate, walking distance from many yummy restaurants, and just a short drive from downtown PHX. We had no pest issues, and the unit was well prepared for us at move-in. Had I not been moving out of state, I would have renewed.
