Ben Weisenberg on Google

image The following is based on my experience, prospective and opinion working at Vion Receivable Investments.
Premise:
I was fired for taking a 20 minute emergency call with an insurance company.
Pros: Great compensation for entering invoices and paying them.
Cons: Working for an irrational boss who enjoys to micro-manage everyone.
History:
Everything in this review is based on my experience, prospective and opinion working at Vion Receivable Investments.
Week 1:
The first week I was given invoices to enter in A/P by Amy Iacovelli, Controller. I reviewed the invoices including the support detail that was attached to them and entered them into A/P. On day two it appeared Amy was frustrated with my performance so I approached her and she explained that it was taking too long to enter invoices into A/P. I explained what I was doing and stated I will not provide analysis and just enter the invoices as directed. I explained that I was not given a specific deadline and assumed I had time to analyze and try to understand how the company operates since I just started. I apologized and explained that it would not happen again. At the end of the week I inquired about my performance and Amy stated, “You must be happy with yourself.” Amy indicated that I did well and to continue the good work.
Week 2: There were no problems or misunderstandings and Amy appeared to be pleased with my work.
Week 3: The second day of week three I had to take an emergency phone call dealing with an insurance company since I was dealing with an incident that took place in December 2012. The call lasted 20 minutes. Amy interrogated me in front of my co-worker, “What have you been doing for the past hour?” I responded, I was on an emergency phone call that lasted 20 minutes, working on writing-up invoices, and revising my notes (all requested by Amy). Within 30 seconds Amy called me into her office and reamed me for taking the call. I explained that the call was an emergency and I needed to take it, I asked her “What would you like me to do in the future?” Amy replied, “You need to run all your calls through me first. When you come to work you better be in your seat.” I said, “I come in early and sometimes stay late.” Amy replied, “I do not care! You are scheduled to work 8-4. Let this be a warning to you, is this a problem!” Amy was extremely heated at this point. I said I understand, and I will not let this happen again. Later that day Amy brought me in with Anita Ollinger the HR Manger to inform me that I was being let go.
I have never in my life been treated so poorly and unprofessionally. I completed all my work in a timely manner and went the extra mile by coming in early, staying late, and asking to assist others whenever I had downtime. In addition, I was hired to be your assistant controller however I was busy writing up invoices, posting them to AP and paying them, which is not commensurate with the title. I was waiting to express to Amy that I was looking forward to new challenges that are associated with being an assistant controller, but I did not want to rock the boat since I was only there for a couple of weeks. I was being micro-managed like I was a five year old asking to explain myself. Amy sold me a bag of goods that were not true. This truly has been the worst experience of my professional career.
