I was assigned this company through American Home Shield when I submitted a service request for a broken spring. I did the request online, which was a mistake. Garage door springs are not a covered item. If I would have spoken to someone, my suspicion is that they would have told me it was not a covered item (or at least I would hope so). Open Sesame came out a couple days after the claim was assigned and immediately informed me that the spring was not covered, but that they could replace it that day. They quoted me $640 dollars plus a $49.92 surcharge for the repair and said that they have had price increases from the manufacturers by 70% since February due to metal shortages, etc which seemed like a logical explanation. So I authorized the repair and it was installed in about a half hour or so without issue. Since the nearly $700 price tag was about $700 more than I had expected when I submitted the claim, I looked online for what the repair should cost and called four other places to see what it cost. The shops I called gave me quotes on a double spring system as low as $250 and the highest I had was $470 from a contractor I've used before (and have had good experience with). When I called Open Sesame, I spoke with Nicole who was very pleasant, but ultimately, was unable to explain why their price was 1.5-2.5x what the market rate appears to be. She said many contractors will low-ball offers over the phone just to get their foot in your door so they can upcharge you, which is believable. However, when all my online research said the price is typically $250-$450 and all the places I called seemed to say the same thing, I'm led to believe that Open Sesame takes advantage of home warranty customers who are in a bind and already paid for a service call. I would not recommend Open Sesame because their prices are so high inexplicably. I requested that they adjust the price they had charged me since it was so much higher than average, but they refused to do so. They instead offered me a 10% discount on future services which is 100% worthless since I won't call the most expensive garage repair contractor on the planet for service. Even if I did, that 10% coupon would still put me way higher than what the market rate would be. As I read other reviews, it just seems like this is par for the course, which is disappointing. I've also read other reviews where Open Sesame's response was that the customer was profane, irate, and vulgar. To be clear, I was exceptionally calm, respectful, and polite. Nicole even commented and said so. I am not a crazy person who just yells when I'm mad. Ultimately, I was negligent when I called my home warranty and had the crazy idea that they would actually pay to have stuff fixed that breaks in my home. Mistake number 1. After that, I should have called around before accepting their proposal. Lesson learned. Always shop around even if they are sent by your home warranty. Here is a list of the companies I called also and got rough quotes from: Arizona's Garage Door: $250-$320 Same Day Garage Door: $275-$325 Lincoln Garage (who I've used before): $320-$470 (for the most expensive spring) A1 Garage: $300-$350 (who said they also price match other quotes)

Open Sesame garage doors was fabulous. Because of Covid there’s a delay in everything and I understand they are not the manufacturer. They worked with me to make sure my order was correct and that the entire install went smoothly. I highly recommend them.

I was quoted $699 to replace two springs on my 16x8, 25 gage garage door. Very expensive for a 30 mins job. Got the springs replaced the same day for $225 ( 5yr warranty). Photo attached: No damage on anything. Be smart get multiple quotes..!

I am very unhappy with the service we have received from this company. First problem, supposedly because of COVID, garage doors arrived many weeks late. They installed the doors but there is a gap between the concrete and garage doors. Why they didn’t allow for this when they were figuring it out, I don’t know. Again at our expense we have to solve this problem. With Costco, you were supposed to get a gift card. Personally, I think they forgot about it. I had to call several times before I received it after it was installed. They had our money with the order. Now the lift master is glitching. Again, not their problem call lift master. My recommendation: use a different company.

THE WORST, THEY TOOK NO OWENRSHIP FOR A DELAY IN RECIEVING NEW GARAGE BY 8 WEEKS OVERDUE (TOTAL 4 MTHS). WHEN THEY GOT TO MY HOME TO INSTALL THEY DISCOVERED THEY ORDERED A 7FT DOOR RATHER THAN 8FT AND SHE BLAMED THE MANUFACTER FOR SENDING WRONG DOOR WHEN Y INVOICE SAYS THEY ORDERED A 7FT DOOR. THEY TOOK NO OWNERSHIP OF THEIR SCREW UP AND JUST WANTED TO RUN AWAY FROM THE PROBLEM. VERY UNETHICAL. DO NOT DO BUSINESS HERE. BTW THEY HAVE NOT BEEN IN BUSINESS AS LONG AS WEBSITE SAYS SO AGAIN HONESTY IS NOT THEIR BEST ATTRIBUTE. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. LASTLY I WAS TOLD SHE DID ME A FOVOR BY TAKING ME ON AS A CUSTOMER WHEN WE DISCOVERED THEY SCREWED UP ON THE ORDER.
