Laura of Durant Communications and Durant Casting really helped me navigate the (actually very) many performance opportunities for film, television and stage in Phoenix. She has the inside track on tech jobs too...
I attended Laura's actor's toolbox session and inquired about headshots. I've studied acting for a long time and I still found the toolbox info was relevant and insightful. That info along with my headshot helped me land some great roles in film, television and on stage!
My first headshot session was fun and quick, I was in and out in about an hour, but she snapped some winners that really put me in focus. I've since been back a few times as my look can change often and I'm always very happy with her professionalism and unique ability to capture the moment her photos.
I could say more great things but I do have one complaint. Because she's a casting director for film and television, Laura's feedback is concise and meaningful but sometimes difficult to hear.
It's my understanding that my story isn't unique, and that Laura Durant and has helped keep the Phoenix performing arts scene connected and employed for something like 16 years...
When I subscribed to the updates on durantcom I expected to pay a little something because everyone and their mother has tried to capitalize on my dream of being an actor but to my surprise, it was free so when I get a gig, I just drop a donation so hopefully she can stay in business not charging actors to provide these excellent, and crucial resources for artist's and art producing company's like Greasepaint youth theatre, and Randy Murray Productions for another 16 years or more.
