It is unfortunate that 80% of the population alters their buying decisions as a result of negative reviews presented on the internet by individuals they have never met or do not know. Every business has competition that will attempt to limit their value, and every business that provides a service or product is going to have unhappy clients. It is imperative that consumers do their own due diligence before they make any decision as to the value of a product or service.

CDR fell well short of my expectations. I ignored the numerous negative reviews written about them, and wrote them off as sour grapes by a vocal minority. Unfortunately, my experience with CDR was consistent with these accounts. Basic customer service is woefully inadequate. My worst fears were realized when constructive dialogue became virtually non-existent after I paid the fairly hefty upfront “investment†(mine was $2800). Far too often I did not feel like a valued client, and communications were always initiated by me. The burden shouldn’t always (or arguably ever) fall to the client to initiate contact. I was actively employed when I signed on with CDR, but was seeking a career change. I reasoning that if they could save me as little as two weeks in my job search, it would be money well spent. One of the selling points CDR made to me (before I “investedâ€) was that by hiring them, the burden for researching and finding opportunities would shift to them. However, my first two months with CDR were largely a waste of time and I became frustrated that my desires and input seemed to fall on deaf ears. CDR talks a good game about the “hidden job marketâ€, and they imply they have access to it but they don’t. Instead, they have a database with company listings that they target for you, but without any information on whether these companies will be a good match or not. The approach is essentially the client cold-calling companies and hoping to draw their interest. CDR did provide marginal improvements to my resume, but I could have found a professional resume writing service for $500-800 that would’ve been a much better investment. In retrospect, CDR met the bare minimum standards of their contract obligations. But what they provided me fell far short of my expectations, and needs. I cannot recommend them to executive job seekers. My advice is to proceed with extreme caution.
