I had a dislocated hip & had walked with a walker thinking it was my knee that a orthopedic Dr. shaved off too much meniscus to bone on bone for 9-10 months. Then met with this doctor. Dr. Michael Dersam when I contacted him, he took my case. I had done my homework to find a Sports Medicine Doctor who did the Diamondbacks & Cardinals; knowing they wanted back out on the field. Well, in a sense I did too. Ohh, and I was so on it! Prosthesis so easy-to-use, so smooth to move front opening makes for faster healing. I am only 14-15 days after surgery! He is fantastic. I will let him help make discussion on my knee next, if injections will last a while.... ?

Dr. Dersam just did 2nd hip replacement for my honey and he is amazing. He went out of his way to make sure he operated on my honey thus ensuring he will be close to fully recuperated for an upcoming cruise. He is caring and genuinely interested in you. Highly recommend him!

If I could rate negative stars, I would. Dr. Dersam replaced my left ACL with a section of my hamstring from the same leg. This is a standard, run-of-the mill procedure that had been successfully performed on my right knee by another surgeon. Once I was home, we discovered that my brace had been put on my leg backwards. Even worse, once the bandage was removed, the incision where my hamstring was removed looked like it had been cut by a drunk; It was 2x as long as it should have been and cut on an angle in a zig-zag pattern. It scarred horribly. Worst of all, a MRI 24 months later revealed frays and tears; I had to have the procedure done again. Avoid this surgeon.

Dr. Dersam operated on my nephew's broken elbow. The operation was successful but the lack of follow up or minimum level care shown after the operation was just poor. The kid was in transition from Community College to a D1 University baseball team on a scholarship as an international student so the process was very stressful and there was just a minimum level empathy from the doctor towards him. The operation was back in February and the kid is still in recovery with the university's doctor now and it seems like he will fully recover but the recovery has been delayed due to extra stress put on the elbow due to lack of information or follow up given to the patient. I guess he's a good Dr but if you expect someone to be emotionally invested in the patient's recovery once he gets paid then this is not the right Dr for you.

Dr. Dersam saved my leg after I broke my hip and thigh. And another Dr. Tried to fix the leg and left the hip alone and made my leg 4 inches shorter than my other leg. Dr.. Dersam took out the rod out from my leg and replaced my hip and made sure both my legs were the same length. I am beyond grateful to Dr. Dersam, and can never thank him enough.
