Cox is decent internet but terrible horrible awful customer service. Getting ahold of some one for a simple question or to cancel service is nightmare, I e canceled service only to find the mouth breathing fool who supposedly did it didn't. I now have another bill for some reason and to call with your pin is pointless ans hopeless now I have a double bill for 2 months at an address I no longer live at. Praise be technology and it's wonders how great to pass all your problems off to a machine that way no one has a job and also the people paying for the service won't have customer service

Be prepared to advocate for yourself and confirm you're not receiving old equipment.
I work in IT and came in with my dad, trying to upgrade his aging DVR box. I specifically asked multiple times to be upgraded and explained the primary issue was that HDMI-CEC doesn't turn on the TV when the cable box is turned on, but all other devices in our setup do turn on correctly.
The DVR box we had was manufactured in 2013 and had a sticker on it stating as such. The people working at the counter handed us a new DVR box, and it.... had a manufacturing date of 2012, a year older than our current one! It literally had a piece of tape stuck inside the USB 2.0 port, showing that it was used.
I was befuddled and flabbergasted. I asked if they could upgrade us to a newer DVR receiver, and they said they'd have to "change all of our systems around." I explained that was fine and I work in IT. I said I could change it out and we didn't have their provided router, only using their fiber ONT modem.
The teammates I spoke to put up some resistance to the idea but eventually upgraded me and my father to the latest Contour DVR. It was a lot of work on their backend, apparently, but I would have been fine waiting or coming back (it was rather late, an hour before closing).
I kept probing as to what the situation was and didn't really get a response from the employees on what was going on. I just felt like I was being poorly communicated and left in the dark the entire time and really had to advocate for myself and my family.
I know working a job like this isn't exactly the best in the world and I do empathize, but if they weren't up to doing it tonight I wish they would have asked us to come back tomorrow and schedule an appointment or something.
Anyway, my family got an upgraded cable box from the Contour system. We got what we needed.... eventually.
