One of the worst Marriott experience I've had. While the room was pleasant the service at the hotel was dreadful.
It always took a very long time to speak to anyone, or to find a resolution. We were amazed that given the pandemic the rooms are not cleaned and fully made only by request AND if you are staying more than 5 nights.
As we were staying more than 5 nights, I requested our rooms to be made and it took me asking 4 times for someone to actually do it. We asked via the app and in-person multiple times.
Overall, it was a truly terrible experience and I would not want to stay at the hotel again unless I had no other option.

As two long-time elite members of the Marriott Group, we were deeply troubled by our recent stays at Marriott Anchorage Downtown, AK. Not only did we not receive any hospitality, we were treated in an extremely unprofessional, hostile, discriminatory, verbally abusive, and physically threatening manner by your receptionist Mr. TAYFON ONUR. His rage, anger, and hatred towards us were unprecedented in our decades-long travel history and lodging experience worldwide. TAYFON ONUR’s behavior was so outrageous and the Hotel’s violation of CDC covid guidelines was so severe that we believed we had the duty to report this misconduct to the said hotel’s general manager Mr. Brandon Donnelly, but our request was ignored while we were at the property, and thus we are filing this complaint to the Marriott Group. We ask for a thorough investigation, compensation, and any necessary disciplinary action taken to the said personnel to prevent the Marriott brand from suffering from further damage.
Update on June 3, 2021. The general manager Brandon Donnelly called and left me a message on June 1 and asked me to call him back, which I did on June 3. I offered to share everything in writing to Brandon Donnelly via email but he refused to provide his email upon repeated requests and showed no interest in understanding customer complaints. He then accused me of talking over him while he had interrupted me several times and tried to silence me. Brandon Donnelly then hung up on me. Throughout the brief conversation, I did not sense any sincerity in resolving our complaints or even any interest in understanding our dissatisfaction as evidenced by the general manager’s refusal to provide contact information, attempts to silence customers, and ultimately cutting off the conversation by hanging up on the customer.
We ask to communicate with a supervisor from the Marriott Group not the individual hotel as clearly this hotel is incapable of and unwilling to handle customer complaints. Thus far, we haven’t heard back yet.

This hotel is currently under renovation which was not mentioned until we checked in. The room itself was nice and updated, but we didn’t have any hot water to shower in. For $300 a night you would at least expect hot water to shower in. When we went to let customer service know about this issue they said that it was a known issue and most likely caused by the renovations. The customer service rep said that a manager would contact us about our concerns and that never happened. Another thing, the ice machines do not work on any floor besides the 8th floor, and you cannot use their pool or hot tub because of covid. In hindsight we would have stayed elsewhere and do not plan on ever staying at this hotel again

Staff seemed friendly enough, however we encountered several issues. The hotel does not provide any shuttle service from the airport, no complementary breakfast and what they do have seems over-priced, and the room phones don't work to call the front desk which resulted in us making several trips to the front desk just for extra towels. To top it off, the walls are paper thin, we could hear the entire conversation of the room next to us.
