image My wife and I Built our Garden Home at Somerby of West Mobile in 2007. We love it here and enjoy all the services and programs.
The staff is very supportive and so nice.
The residents are active and friendly. Our garden home residents enjoy all of the amenities as those in the apartments. We all get along fine and are pretty active.
The food and dining is great.
It is a beautiful place and very comfortable.
The location could not be better for health care with doctors, dentist hospital and wellness [ gym and rehab ] so close.

image My parents lived there almost 4 years. In that time my dad died. My mother continued to live there until her death April 6, 2019, 15 months after my dad died. We didn’t give a 30 day notice to vacate until April 11, 2019. We were told we would be charged a prorated fee for 11 days into May 2019. Because of family out of the country, we couldn’t have her funeral until May 4, 2019. The week before her funeral the salesman came to the apartment & let himself in and to my surprise saw him. I knew then they were ready to get us out so they could rent her apartment.
THREE days after her funeral they (sales lady) called me at 1:30 p.m. to tell me there was still stuff in the apartment. And I told her we had until May 11, 2019 before we had to vacate. She told me there had been a mixup and we needed to vacate by midnight, that same night May 7, 2019. She told me this May 7, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. or we would have to pay an entire months rent. The sitter & I worked until 9:00 p.m. to get everything out of the apartment That was 3 days after my mom’s funeral. Now 2 weeks later on May 22, 2019, they were moving someone new into the same apartment .The lady’s who run the front desk & support people are excellent. The food is mediocre because they can’t keep a real chef. BUT THE SALES PEOPLE ARE THE WORST. I will NEVER recommend Somerby to anyone ever again.

image Somerby told us my dad needed a higher level of care and we had to move him and he should go to a nursing home. We went Atria and they did a review. They came back and said he shouldn’t be in memory care and they could provide the care he needed. We saved $1500 a month and they took care of him in Assisted Living outside of memory care. I believe Somerby just wanted him out. His life at Atria was much better with better care and food. I would not recommend Somerby.

image The facility is beautiful and residents friendly when visiting. The staff is great in all areas. Assisted Living for my Mom is wonderful. She can participate in all activities, if she wants, in Independent Living or Assisted Living. I am truly sleeping better now that she is receiving the care she needs. The food is awesome and she's list weight by eating healthier.
Love this place!!

image My mom has been at Somerby for almost 4 months. The initial move was difficult because my Mom was used to being independent but due to a major fall, and subsequent surgery, she needed assistance. Somerby was our first and only choice for my Mom's care. She is adjusting and because of the daily activities offeredshe has met and made friends with other residents. Any concerns I had about her care were discussed and addressed professionally and with tremendous care. They understand not only is this move difficult for the resident it is also hard for the family. I have recommended Somerby to my Mom's friends. We were told it takes 3 to 4 months for a resident to adjust and that is spot on. We are all adjusting and we are thankful to have a place like this for my Mom to live. Here is a picture of my pretty Mom enjoying lunch in the dining room.
