We are a member-owned, not-for-profit financial cooperative, governed by a member-elected Board of Directors. We lend to our neighbors with all lending decisions made locally. Your hard earned deposits are re-invested right here – on the Gulf Coast. We proudly serve Mobile, Baldwin, Washington, Clarke, Monroe, and Escambia counties in Alabama, and Escambia, Santa Rosa, and Okaloosa counties in Florida. We offer members a variety of financial services including surcharge-free world-wide ATM service through Allpoint and 24/7 Online and Mobile account access via NewHCU.org. New Horizons is federally insured by the NCUA and is an Equal Housing Lender, offering Solutions for the Real World.

image Absolutely love every teller and loan officer I've dealt with in my 10+ years of banking with New Horizon's. My issue is the customer support when you call the main branch line. You can stay on hold for hours! I have a simple question, yet I can't get anyone to answer the line. I cheated and went to collections and of course someone answered right away but refused to help and now I'm on hold again.... Customer service is everything when you're such a small bank. What if I needed to report fraud and couldn't get someone on the phone for hours??? This is unacceptable.
Update: Over an hour and a half of waiting and no answer. Finally set up a call back from the answering service. Let's see how long it takes for a call back...

We are actively working to fix the hold time by hiring more Member Services Representatives, but this does take time as they need to get trained and gain experience to better assist our members.As for finding an answer to your question, we offer a Frequently Asked Questions page on our website (https://www.newhcu.org/FAQ) with some of the frequently asked questions we receive that may be of some help. We also offer private messaging via our Facebook page where you can get directed to the appropriate department, or one of our representatives can help answer your question via chat. image I used to love this credit union. But after a while, they would not update my debit card to my account. I have been with them over 10 yrs. They would not even issue me a regular ATM card. No access to my funds unless I visit a branch. Talk about inconvenience! In lieu of their failure to work with me, I most likely will close my account and move to another credit union. Even my bank is much better. I've never had any issues with my bank.

Dear Mr. Hudnell: Thank you for your comments, without them we would not know where there is an issue. Please know that due to the nature of Regulation D and the number of transactions that can be made on certain deposit accounts, we no longer issue ATM cards per say - we are assuming that is what you are referring to. Instead, we offer only Debit Cards (which work at ATMs), but a person must have a checking account to fully utilize - which may or may not be the reason for your card issue without knowing more. We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you. Every financial institution is different, and we are pleased you were able to find one that works best for your needs. Please know that NHCU now offers several no-cost checking accounts including our Ultimate Checking Account for members who wish to earn a higher dividend rate or earn cash back on their debit card purchases. This may not have been available during your time with us, but something to know about in the future.
