We moved to Troy in 2011 because of the school district. We have not been disappointed. We have been happy to volunteer for the district on multiple levels in order to support our son and our community. The handling of the pandemic and putting safety first has been outstanding. Keep up the great work, TSD!

Dear future TSD families:You'll move here for the awesome restaurant scene, but you'll be forced out cuz of the horrific discriminatory school scene. A bunch of under qualified, over privileged white people operate this school district, hired by superintendent white boy Rick. Let's start with "TSD Karen" the Director of Communications. I've been fortunate enough to have never met her but the Karen memes seem to fit her personality and superiority complex. After seven months of asking her to comply with CAN SPAM law and stop sending me an excessive amount of harassing communications multiple times a week, she decided to "speak to the manager" and complain about my email responses. That's what privileged white people do who are unwilling to delete me from a mailing list. It's pathetic I had to finally invoke Title IX Americans with Disabilities Act and involve two principals,  multiple teachers and threaten legal action to get her to do her simple job. Clearly this was an issue of TSD Karen's self importance (job security?) and not a capability issue (e-mail has been around for 30+ years) cuz mission accomplished within 24 hours of my legal threat. It's funny they opted for CAN SPAM compliance (original request from seven months ago) and not ADA compliance (24 hours). Then there is "Dr Pinocchio" who believes fifth graders are experts at 501(c)(3) IRS tax code, not her as the principal. Supposedly, the students came up with the idea "How to Bully Poor People" pay-to-participate charity week to raise money for another affluent Troy school, who couldn't raise enough money on their own (YES, it's as GAUCHE as it sounds!).  The most vulnerable, low income students that didn't bring in $10 were bullied that week.  That's systemic racism by privileged white people. Black people would never do that, let alone qualified Black administrators. It's sickening to admit my own kindergartener refused to play with a kid that couldn't afford to participate.Let's go back to "TSD Karen" who, during Covid19, sent multiple emails to 12,000 student's families, bragging about how TSD violated the privacy rights of hundreds, probably thousands of students by disclosing the addresses of where there is a high population of free and reduced lunch/low income students. That's what privileged white people do.  Black people wouldn't do that. The classier, competent school districts that genuinely care about their students used bus routes, bus numbers or a separate email communication but not TSD Karen who wants her damn participation trophy. Let's talk about negligence. On September 18, 2019 (14th day of school), my kindergartener wasn't provided with a hot lunch, even though she had $120 in her hot lunch account. She sat at the lunch table and NOT. A. SINGLE. ADULT. CARED. ENOUGH. TO. NOTICE that she had nothing to eat. That's what happens when privileged white people run the school. Another example of negligence, during enrollment, you don't need to provide current custody paperwork as long as you provide a property settlement agreement showing your monetary assets. Although the State of Michigan and TSD don't require it (probably illegal) the enrollment coordinator is nosey and requested it, probably to conduct an income verification test to make sure I'll fit in financially. She was more interested in my 401k and bank account information than whether I had physical custody of my child. With all that said, it didn't surprise me when a (white, male) Athens HS student side swiped my vehicle during the school/daycare run and hid his white SUV in the school parking lot. That's what privileged white people have taught these kids...how to break the law and get away with it. Welcome to Troy School District, where your student dollars could be better utilized elsewhere.
