worst service ive ever seen, sitting in a waiting room for three and a half hours with a broken hand, all I got was ibuprofen, youre better off going somewhere else if you need medical assistance urgently
update: went to long island community in patchogue and got a scan within an hour and a half, definitely steer clear of stony brook

This hospital doesn't care about that patients they are rude and nasty also to their patients and don't care about the patients at all or their well-being and if you disagree with them and your handicapped they'll just throw you out on the street with no way to get home

AVOID! Its horrible. My 5 month old daughter was sent there in an ambulance for a very high fever and was completely out of it. When we got there we were escorted to the waiting room and they put ice packs in my daughters car seat. That should have been the first red flag. The waiting room was completely packed with people. They took our intake info about 45 minutes to an hour later. They sent us back to the waiting room. Several hours later they actually called our name and then we were sent to a stretcher in the hallway where we waited for about another two hours to see a doctor. They spent maybe 2-3 min examining my daughter in the hallway surrounded by other sick patients. Meanwhile the child next to us 3 feet away possibly had mononucleosis and was also in the hallway for hours. They never gave my daughter any medication to lower the fever. They diagnosed her with a UTI without running any tests to determine if she had one or not. My advice- stay far away.

4 years later and back at the hospital with another negative experience. Stopped by to visit a patient and didn't realize the visiting hours started at 11. I walk up to the concierge and rather than telling me this fact she directs me to the visitors/information desk. She specifically told me to go to the male employee sitting at station 1. The person wasnt even looking outward to people who may be walking up to him, and seemed to be in a conversation with their coworker. They seemed almost annoyed I was standing there to ask for something. He asked if I was told to come early which I said no. He then informed me of the visiting hours and let me know I can start lining up to visit shortly. There should be clear signs of the visiting hours on the walkway leading up to that desk, and if it is too early for them why not just stop me at the concierge instead of making me walk up to the info desk just to annoy the person who didnt seem like they wanted to be there? Just walked away feeling foolish. Guess I should have googled the hours :-)

Unless you were shot in the face and have brain matter running down your cheek and an ambulance brings you do this hospital and calls ahead, do NOT come to this hospitals emergency room. Go literally anywhere else. 2 days out from surgery my mother had severe pain and dizziness. Visited the operating doctor who called ahead and told us to come to this hospital. Got here and were checked in pretty fast, but then told to wait in the waiting room. Going on hour 4 and we are still waiting with no end in sight. At least put up a tv with patient initials so we know where we stand. If they told me there was a 4+ hour wait we would have driven somewhere else.
