My son has been admitted to SBU Hospital for a severe Crohns case. The nurses have been great. The GI team has been useless. They never do as they say. Constantly using the nurses to hunt GI doctor down. Go anywhere else if possible.
My son has been admitted for 45 days and the Dr doesnt provide much assistance.

Invasion of a patients privacy is not a concern for this hospital, especially Ward 18North.
Bathrooms are shared between 2 Rooms. This includes the shower within the bathroom. As a result a male patient with mental health problems can enter into the opposite room where there are female patients and invade the privacy of the female patients. This recently occurred. The staff was notified but this occurred 5 times in two days. The staff were very irresponsible and unprofessional in handling this incident. The staff never requested security. Instead they assigned nursing assistants which were completely neglectful in attending to this male patient.
After being discharged, Patient Advocacy was informed. There reply from the staff member at the front desk ( Maria) was, "Well you must understand, this is a hospital. This although not acceptable, can happen."
I would never recommend anyone to be treated at Stonybrook Hospital in Stonybrook NY!!!
