image Ive stayed at the gem a couple of times and enjoyed myself thoroughly both times. It has a lot of charm and character. The staff were excellent, beyond friendly and accommodating, from the front desk to the bar to the owner.
I had one of the best nights sleep in a while in the comfortable bed. Make sure you go to Bogeys, best pint of Guinness in the area too.
Stay here when you visit Cape Cod for a good time and support local businesses.
Ill be back for Rebel fest!

image I arrived on a Sunday evening about 6:45. The bar was full, but they were going to close the kitchen at 7. I felt guilty. They were only serving off the lunch menu, and that was fine with me. I had just driven 2 hours, and I was hungry. The menu had plenty to choose from, soups, salads, sandwiches, and pizza by the slice or whole pie. The poor waitress, Annie, said she had been on for like 20 hours & had lost her voice, but she was still perky and good natured (It had been a very busy sold out weekend with the St Patrick's Parade, 2nd largest in the state) I chose quickly, even though Annie asked if I needed more time. I went with the cheeseburger, rare. And did I want fries? I said no because I didn't want to be more work.
It seemed like only 5 minutes later, the burger and fries arrived. I quickly asked if there was dessert. Annie said yes & listed off a variety. I couldn't decide between 2 & she said she'd surprise me, and I asked for it to go.
The burger was big and cooked perfectly rare with 2 pieces of cheese! The curley fries were actually small pieces, cooked perfectly crispy, and they were not greasy. (They were there, I had to taste them, lol). The dessert arrived- The Apple Star, like a mini apple pie, the size of a cup cake. In a separate container was a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
I could barely finish the burger, and I had the dessert later in the room. I was delighted with Annie's choice.
The next morning I went back for breakfast and ate in the regular dining room. There was Annie full of energy, and she had her voice back.
The breakfast menu is extensive. I decided on 2 eggs, sunny side, bacon , home fries, and wheat toast.
This meal came quickly, too. Again, the eggs were cooked perfectly. The 4 pieces of bacon were crispy, just the way I liked. The home fries were a surprise. Little pieces of potatoes cooked crispy on all sides without being over cooked and hard, and they were not spicy. I don't like spicy or limp large potato pieces so I usually don't eat the home fries. My coffee was kept full. I really enjoyed it all, & it kept me full all day.
The hotel has been around for years and has been through several reincarnations. The current is to The Irish Village, after a move from South Yarmouth.
The front desk people are pleasant & helpful. Make sure you ask for a map because the hotel is massive. There are a lot of luggage carts, the doors are automatic, and there is an overhang, so you won't get wet unloading your car.
The lobby is large, half of it is taken up by some of the restaurant. There are no couches to sit and wait on, only 2 chairs by the front desk. There's a section off to the side with a long table, more chairs and lamps where you can charge your electronics. Small groups and families can bring pizza to the table & crafters can craft.
There only 2 floors and there is no elevator. (Welcome to Cape Cod.)
The rooms are adequate, not fancy. They are not all the same, some have a closet, some have an armoire. There are small refrigerators & if you want a microwave request one when you make your reservation or when you check in. The lamps do not have USB plugs. In fact there are only 3 electrical plugs in the rooms mostly taken up by lamps, fridge, TV, cable box, maybe your coffeemaker, (& microwave) I suggest you bring an extension cord particularly if you have a number of electronics. There are small patios or decks.
The hotel has a hair salon, a gym, indoor and outdoor pools, bar (Bogey's) & restaurant (check on hours), & plenty of parking. They are kid friendly. Locals frequent the restaurant, & salon. There is a lot of repeat business.
For groups there are multiple meeting rooms & a huge function room. They are also experts in feeding groups.
The location is just off the rotary at the west of main street in Hyannis. The Melody Tent is across the street as is a restaurant. There is a liquor store next door. In season, there is a Trolley to take you around town. It is within walking distance to downtown. You will need to drive to one of the local beaches.
