I am a local and in the past I always bring my out of state visitors to Taliesin West and learn something new as I enjoy it with "newbies". Yesterday, at $40 dollars a guest, we were handed ear buds for the audio tour and me and certainly my guests were so disappointed, not with Taliesin, with the experience. To stand in front of a rock for 5-10 minutes as you listen to a audio description was far from the experience of having a guided tour, which I had always experienced in the past, a chance to listen and also to ask a few questions!!! One can purchase a book on Taliesin/Frank Lloyd Wright!!! Yes, you can "feel" and "see" the essence of the building, the building site...but it was a tedious hour. The MIM is also an audio tour, much less per person, but it is interactive, too massive for one visit...but sorry I did not take them there instead of paying $40.00 per guest, waiting for the next "audio" tour to begin...I used to enjoy going back each time...Next time I will offer to take guests to our many other wonderful places, and let them go on their own to Taliesin.
