image I found OC crazies through simple Google search, and signed up for the basic improvisation course. I had read about improvisation a lot but no actual experience.
I am so happy my first experience was with OC crazies. Cherie, our instructor, was just excellent. She had plans for each class but at the same time was great at adapting to what was happening in the room.
I am a university professor and in my opinion the hardest thing for being a good instructor is finding the right level of challenge for the class. Cherie found that balance so masterfully. Even though there were a wide range of skills in the room, I think everyone ended up having a lot of fun. I learned a lot and had a lot of fun each session too.
The graduation show was my absolute favorite. My wife and a few of my friends got to watch me being all loose and crazy. It was just fantastic. A few of my friends also became interested to enroll after just watching the graduation show.
I know the reason that I like the graduation show so much. In the academic world we call such an ending to a program a culminating experience. Its supposed to get the students to experience the so what of everything you did during the program. I think the graduation show did just that. I think what allowed us to be able to do a show after just six week of training was that Cherie does most of her teaching during actual improvisation exercises. During her classes, you are mostly on stage doing an improve act or watching your classmate attempt it. Seeing them succeed or make mistakes are also great way to continue learning.
I had so much fun that I think this was the highlight of my 2023 and I am planning to redo the same class as I think I can still improve and also because its just so much fun.

image Took a stand up comedy class here. Had an amazing time. The instructor was very supportive and encouraging, as was the other students. The grad show was super fun. I didn't leave a pro of course, but definitely feel equipped to get myself out there on stage, which I didn't before I took this class. My classmates too made progress leaps and bounds during our 6 week course. I highly recommend it.

image I took an improv class here after just missing their standup comedy class. And I learned a tremendous amount - both about myself and what I wanted to get out of the class, stage presence, being comfortable by not being comfortable, warmup techniques, sharing the stage...the list goes on. I see these other reviews here, but I can attest to this experience being all about the attitude you bring into the theater. Yea sometimes we misunderstood each other when attempting something, but by working through it - everyone had a better understanding for the piece we were attempting to perform. Because in the end, she's walked the walk and really knows this stuff to the finest of details.

image A really bad place to learn improv.
The owner Cherie is an embittered, rude and unprofessional person. The classes are completely unstructured, to the point she can't even remember what was done during the previous class. No preparation is provided for the graduation show. The classes are very expensive and a complete waste of money.

image Cherie and the OC Crazies has made a huge impact on my life. She helped me realize a dream I've had for 20 years, performing standup comedy. She taught me and encouraged me. She's given me great opportunities to perform. Her classes are so much fun. I live in the corporate world and had never performed anything before. Cherie taught me how to project my voice, not to step on my laughs, how to have a stage presence, and how to write an actual joke. Her notes and feedback are honest and priceless. Now I have a new passion that my friends and family get a kick out of and support me greatly. I've made new "comedy" friends and a bunch of new doors have opened up in my life. I love Cherie and this theater. My 9 year old son is now taking standup classes here and he loves it, too.
