image When I came I thought that with the blood tests they do I would be given an individualized diet to follow. That’s what the Victoria secret models do, why not a “medical” weight loss clinic. I thought I would be given b12 shots. That’s what the diet clinic in Los Angeles does, and yes it works. I thought I would be analyzed and given something to help with weight-loss. Nope. Nothing. The best thing they do here is educated you on foods. Very good actually. I have a complex disease of the thyroid called hashimotos. I’m suppose to have a very limited diet. Here they said ignore that. Just “eat right”. I also have kidney issues that the specialists warned me about certain foods. They also said to ignore that. At the end, they put me a general diet same as everyone. Told me to ignore all the other specialist.
Well I didn’t lose weight. I was down to 2 meals a day. Mostly meat and veggies. And I could not lose a pound. I worked out two hours a day.
At this place they blamed marijuana, because if I smoke then I MUST be eating a lot. I tell these non-smoking inexperienced doctors how I’ve used it for years to help suppress my hunger. They do not compute. Can’t. So it’s not the lack of things I mentioned above. Oh no. I am the failure. I’m sorry but I think they are the failure for the reasons I mentioned. I’ve lost weight before and still consumed the weed. Since I had kids I can’t lose it. There’s a disease at play they just ignore. Then have the nerve to shame me on it.
I notice that people who already have bad eating habits will lose weight when they take the nutrition class and actually follow. But I walked in already following for the most part.
She told me one fruit a day only.
Well I lost weight when I stopped listening her them and started listening to myself. I juiced tons of fruits WITH fruit juice. And veggies of course mixed it. I juiced for breakfast and dinner. I ate huge for lunch. Same as always. Meat and veggies. And I finally started losing 1 lb. a week. It’s slow. But I also don’t want to get loose skin.
I wish this place was like the place back home that gave diet suppressors and b12 shots weekly along with vitamins. I was loosing weight pretty quick there and I could feel the surge of energy from good quality ....very important...GOOD QUALITY....B12 shots. I had them elsewhere in another state and they sucked. Felt nothing. Weak stuff. Just disappointed with my expectations of this place. General diets never work. We are not all the same.

image Weight Management Program of Salem Saved My Life!
I started the program at 314 lbs. I'd been morbidly obese my entire life, and had never been able to successfully lose weight. In fact at over 300 lbs., I had so far to go that it seemed totally, completely, and hopelessly out-of-reach.
Weight Management Program of Salem helped me lose 150 lbs. over the next year and a half. Now, 3 years after I found them, I maintain that weight loss within around 10 lbs.!
The keys to their program for me were:
1) The Doctor, Program Staff & Coaches: The doc is SO sweet and encouraging. The staff lights up my day every time I enter the building. The encouragement and hope they gave me was JUST what I needed to make it through the long haul. My maintenance coach Kim is a SUPERSTAR of motivation and unconditional support.
2) Tools & Structure: Using HealthOne meal replacements for the first phase was key to "getting off" my normal, unhealthy eating patterns. It's the closest thing a person can go to cold turkey with food, because let's face it, a girl's still gotta eat! I had major losses in the first weeks, which was encouraging enough to continue the (admittedly difficult) process, and learning to use food for fuel instead of comfort, entertainment, etc. was a big part. Going into the 2nd phase, I learned about portion sizes, nutrition, and tools to keep on track. I could go on and on, and will if anyone wants to email me in person. :)
3) Ongoing Weekly Support: Having to go weigh-in and write my stats on the board every week for my classmates to see was hugely motivating (not in a punitive way, but in an educational, sharing way). Now that I’m in Maintenance class (and plan to continue with them as long as they’ll let me), checking in with my fellow WMP-ers keeps me focused and/or helps me re-commit as needed…EVERY WEEK. That’s huge, because as we all know, it’s almost easier to lose weight than to keep it off…
I would endorse Weight Management Program of Salem from the highest mountain-tops if I could. It has made that much of an impact on my life. Here's to adding years of health and happiness to my life, WMP. Thanks!!!
