Karen was my attorney during my divorce/custody case. We started 6/2015 and finished 2/2018. My case was more complicated than most since my son is severely disabled. Karen was ALWAYS available when I needed her. Karen even represented me in conservator court after my son turned 18. This was unknown territory for Karen but together, we prevailed and the judge granted my petition. Karen is VERY ethical and is EXCELLENT in trial! Thank you, Karen, for all you did for us!

Karen Was the worst lawyer I've ever seen in or out of court. She was disrespectful to me, she didn't show up for court one time, she wouldn't listen to anything anyone said to her. When I went to her office, several of her employees we're crying. You could hear them whispering about her and she treated them poorly. She would not communicate with the other lawyers as she should have and she seemed to care more about trying to impress someone with her miniskirts and piled on makeup than doing her job. I got the sense that many of the other lawyers didn't take her seriously at all. Please, don't put your life in her hands. She's trouble.REPLY TO KAREN'S C SMITHS RESPONSE TO MY REVIEWKaren, it must be easy saying that you don't know me or that Ive never been in your office. You darn sure took 4,000.00 of my money. Why would anyone claim to have such a experience with you if it weren't true? Remember, you were just a block away from the court house and there were homeless people sleeping right next to your office. you didn't show up to our court case on the second hearing .After several attempts of trying to get you to listen to us, and you basically telling us to shut up , I fired you. You claim your rudeness its to save people money? I say it's because you are a poor excuse for a lawyer. You never once reviewed our case, you basically did nothing. Even worse than nothing, you made matters worse. Your own employees were so upset with you one day, they were all crying upstairs. You didn't care though. You are a cold, disrespectful lady and someday, it will catch up to you. I believe the few 5 star ratings you have, must be friends of yours, because I've witnessed you treat more than other client in the same disgraceful way and I can't see you being kind enough or intelligent enough to fight your way out of a paper bag. Even the judge asked you if you had reviewed the case before the hearing......tsk, tsk.

Karen is a very knowledgeable, hard-working and ETHICAL attorney. She was always prepared and on time for office appointments and court appearances. And she always returned calls. Karen handled my divorce and custody case from 6/2015 until 2/2018. She made sure that I maintained ownership of my house and other personal property that I requested. I know she was not pleased with the unfair final custody decision of 68% custody being given to my ex (my ex and I had 50/50 shared custody up to this point). However, that decision came 3 weeks before my severely disabled son turned 18 in July, 2017. At this time, my ex immediately ambushed me with his petition for sole conservatorship of our son. I believe my ex was trying to remove me from my son's life. Karen amazingly offered to represent me in conservator court (unfamiliar territory for her), while simultaneously finishing my divorce! Together, Karen and I navigated our way through the conservator court process. And Karen is EXCELLENT in trial! She had the pleasure of 2 prior family court trials with my ex, and she knew which buttons to push (big grin). Karen was up against one of the best probate/conservator attorneys in Shasta County. As usual, Karen brought her 'A Game'. We finished our trial in conservator court in January, 2018 and the judge ultimately granted MY petition in February. I truly appreciate everything Karen has done for me and my son!
