There are pretty significant communication and process gaps. Being here requires you as a parent to focus ALL your attention on your child's care because it often feels like with so many rotating team members, the details are very easily lost. Request supportive care if you have complex kiddos or extended stays (that is, if they have room to see you - we were told the list was too long). Speak up. Say no when you don't agree with decisions. I wouldn't leave my kiddo here without 24/7 supervision by myself or another family member.

believe. It is a great hospital run by God, my niece is in that hospital and I thank God and all the attention of doctors and nurses in that hospital. I would like all states to be like this.

Overall most of the physicians have been great with a few exceptions
Childrens Hospital has many gaps in their processes
This is what I have faced:
2013 My daughter went in for routine orthopedic surgery. The wonderful surgeon Dr Mendelssohn wrote not to give her a spinal due to Sickle Cell
We did not know Anesthesia dept went against the order
Flip forward 6 months she was admitted due to problems with her kidney due to Anesthesias failure to follow orders
We almost lost her
Thank God Dr Motitz came into the protocol
2020 same daughter was admitted to ICU due to severe dehydration
Because I am older (age discrimination) I was accused of neglect
I went through hell
Everyone was on me
I knew something was amiss so I called the Entral team ( they supply her g tube feedings)
I asked that they review the new feeding script she was on from Dr
The new script contained far less hydration than the old script. Sickle cell was not taken into the equation
Tried telling the head of ICU repeatedly to no avail
She would not consider even looking into this
Turns out that I was right and she was wrong
I just followed looking for the source of my daughters issue. I am not medicall at all
To boot some staff at Childrens told me their horror stories
When I took my daughter home I received a call from the prescribing doctor apologizing for HIS ERROR. I actually had a nurse from Bayada who heard the full conversation
I changed Gastro doctors
March 1, 24. My younger daughter had a breakthrough Grand Mal seizure
Took her to Childrens ER where we spent the next 11 hours
Care was very good
THEN I was told a script for Topomax was sent to Giant Eagle. Went to pick it up GE said they had calls in to prescribing Dr
No return calls
I started paging. No return
This am I have made around 8 calls to get this RX handled
Have called everyone I could think of
To date NO Script
Just called GE no one has returned their calls
To this time period no one has returned any of my calls
