image I took my frenchie to Pearland Animal Hospital as a new patient. We went for her yearly exam and shots. The staff and veterinarian were all very friendly, caring, and helpful! The veterinarian took his time to answer any questions we had. I am so happy to call them my new veterinarian!

image Pearland Animal Hospital has been by far the best vet I have been to in Pearland! Really wished I had found them earlier for my other pets. Everyone is super nice, give reminders on next follow up etc. Dr. Vance was really nice, explained everything in ways youll understand! My cat usually is scared of men, but not with Dr. Vance! Thank yall for all yall do for our fur babies!

image One of the worst vet experiences I have had to date. Started off great with very friendly staff. The tech came in and greeted my dog and I, while he examined her he used treats and games to keep her relaxed as he said he wanted to make this the best experience for her. Then the vet came in and within seconds of meeting me started to tell me how not putting my pup on apoquel is shorting her life ( I had a dog start ramming it's head into the wall shortly after putting her on this and after researching it I found it causes cancer, seizers, tumors, ect..) I told her that I am here to find an alternative and as she started to feel all over my pup without even petting her first continues on her rant on apoquel and cytopoint and how the balanced diet I feed will shorten her life as well (processed kibble that they make a commission off of is the only way dogs can live a long life apparently). After she left the room She came back and offered an alternate but slammed the door on her way out. The way I was treated for advocating for my pup was something I have never experienced and hope to never experience again. I wish I had left once she began making me feel ignorant for not wanting to give my pup medication as I hate I gave money to her establishment.

I am sorry to hear that your experience was not what you hoped. Yes, we train our staff to be very friendly and welcoming to animals and their people. I am glad they met that expectation for you.Yes, there are several alternatives to Apoquel that we prescribe on a daily basis. It seems that the veterinarian was trying to communicate that changing to steroids to control the skin issues would shorten your pet's life, but there are other products that can be tried. I am sorry that was not clear. Regarding pet food, we are happy to work with clients that care so much about their pets that they are willing to cook them home-made diets. We do recommend that the diets be balanced by a veterinary nutritionist and that the meat gets fully cooked. Without these two things, homemade diets can be incomplete or even dangerous. And we typically only keep small bags of therapeutic foods around, because we do not want to be dog food salesmen. We direct clients to stores where they can buy the products they need.We are here to advocate for pets. Sometimes that means having difficult conversations with owners that may not be open to what we recommend. That is fine, because it is your pet, after all. We can usually find a way to work with any client regardless of their priorities. I am sorry that your experience was otherwise, and I hope you can find the care you seek so that your pup can live a long and healthy life.
