image Our daughter has been attending Park Lake for a little over a year now, and we could not be happier with it. Every day she is excited to leave the house to go to her school. As a parent, tt checks all of the boxes. It has a low child to teacher ratio. It has teachers who have been there for years. The children have a wonderful play area overlooking Park Lake where they can watch the ducks and other wildlife while enjoying the playground. It is secure. And now during Covid, it has put into place numerous safety precautions and additional cleaning. It has great communication - the directors respond within minutes of emails and the teachers will make the time to discuss your child and any concerns or questions you may have. I highly recommend Park Lake Pres Child Care Center.

image The school is excellent but they tend to over react when a child is "sick". I've spoken with other parents who deal with they same issue where an innocuous mark on a child's face is enough to conclude the child has hand, foot, and mouth or some other mysterious illness. Having a parent pickup their child out of an abundance of caution is one thing-Park Lake takes it too another level. I have had to pickup my child who was not sick on at least ten occasions in the past few months. Even after a being cleared from a doctor the management at Park Lake still found it necessary to have my child picked up.

image When I first looked into park lake there was a waiting list. So, we put our daughters name on the list and started her at another school due to work demands. Park lake called not too long after letting us know there was an opening. We were very hesitant to switch her schools. The one she was attending was good... but it's amazing what actually a big difference between good and great is. I am glad we made the switch. It was easy too. This school feels more like family...you feel comfortable. You won't feel uneasy asking any question if you need to. Or with anything. They check ids and who is on the actually pick up list if you need to have someone pick up. No one can just wander in the building. They also provide lunches here so she actually eats her lunch and enjoys  eating what everyone else is eating (healthy!). She not comparing or not wanting her food if someone else has something different. During this pandemic, they put in place over the top procedures.. to make sure the kids that needed the care during this time were safe and it has been!! They pay attention to all the small things! Communication is excellent. I know what she learns every week, how she is doing, whats happening at the school, etc. The teachers and the staff are all wonderful. Our daughter loves it here.  I would drive an extra distance to bring her here. I could go on about this place. It's worth the wait (or the transfer, like we did) if there is a waiting list!! Couldn't be happier.

image Not a good if your child doesn't fit into their box. Our son went to Park Lake when he was 3.  He did not like to drink milk, and when we told the school, they asked us for a doctor's note to give him water at lunch. Ridiculous. It started out well with the two teachers he had. They were loving and really helped him grow. Then right before the holiday break we received an email that his teachers were being changed. When we went to the school that day and told the teachers we would miss them, they hadn't known of the change at all. They were not happy. My son was then moved into another class. The teachers there seemed to not care at all about him. They always complained when we picked him up. One time he had an accident, and when we picked him up from school, they had him in oversized girl shorts and underwear. Almost as if they were trying to embarrass him. When we asked the teachers about it, they said he wasn't sent with a change of clothes. We then went and showed them that he did in fact have a change of clothes, and they didn't really have an excuse. When we brought our concerns up with the director and assistant director, they always would try to justify this behavior. They would never apologize and would say things like " oh, well they asked him if he had clothes in his cubby and he didn't know." Totally unacceptable. The last straw was when it was time for him to go to pre-k. They told us he was not mature enough to make the move, and that we should hold him back. We left and moved to Seminole county and put him in Pre-K at Lady Bird. There he thrived. By the time he was done with pre-k, he knew almost all of the kindergarten curriculum. Fast forward to his first year in kindergarten. He is in gifted classes and has a perfect report card. Daycares with a culture like this are only good if you are lucky to get some of their good teachers. After that it's anyone's guess. And with children, at this pivotal point in their lives, I felt like I had to share with others.
