If you are considering using Lockridge Construction – heed these warnings. We were lured by JWB architects with the appeal of a cohesive relationship between architect AND builder that would, as they state: “work side by side during the design and construction processâ€. We believed that we were working with a “premier Orlando builderâ€, with decades of experience, that spared at no expense.
If you’ve ever heard of the expression “poor bedside manner†to describe that old school doctor, with outdated practices, that should’ve retired 15 years ago… Combine that character with a used car salesman. John Burt Sr., GC of Lockridge Construction, is disturbingly delusional, disorganized, and unethical. He is not a man of integrity nor does he possess any bit of fundamental reasoning.
Here is the recap:
FROM THE SMALLEST DETAILS such as centering a light on a ceiling, ensuring an angled tray ceiling is angled EVENLY on ALL sides, a pendant light being located so a cabinet door won't hit it (and NOT attempting to charge your client for your ignorant miscalculation), properly caring for a client’s property and personal things (i.e. not dragging appliances on exposed new floor, driving over vases and then leaving broken glass/ceramic), common sense to not allow a jet tub to be used as a construction receptacle, not allowing your friends (or future clients?) to bring their dogs over to see new house (on our private property) to piss on the porch (caught on camera), knowing damage is done to property but not making HONEST attempts to correct or fix them (just hoping nobody will notice?), installing mismatched showerheads in master bath, installing cheap showerhead in second bath and when caught and had to replace not replacing the tile cracked in the process, installing wrong windows, etc. etc. etc. etc.
TO THE LARGER SCALE such as quality control on not having a 3 ton 14 seer Ameristar AC unit delivered and installed (contract for a Trane 3 ton 16 seer) and then deeming it acceptable to replace the wrong unit with another wrong unit. Bait and switching paint selection to cheap, unapproved products, bait and switching services you say you're going to provide and then months later decide to send a bill for it, providing bid (with email confirmation) that can/recessed lighting is included in job and later saying we need to purchase out of pocket, saying you're an expert at stamped concrete (so you could attempt to pocket the money yourself?) only to destroy all outside living areas and require us to fix another Lockridge failure after moving in, using spray paint and magic markers to attempt to correct errors rather than #1 doing it right the first time (which someone with decades of experience should be able to do) or #2 owning up to the mistake and correcting it honestly and with integrity... etc. etc. etc. etc.
SPOILER ALERT: If you hire John Burt SR, GC of Lockridge Construction be sure to hire an external construction inspector from BEGINNING TO END, hire a lawyer, hire an auditor to track your money. John Burt SR DOES NOT GENUINELY care about his clients hard-earned money. John Burt SR DOES NOT SENSIBLY or CAPABLY care about his client’s time. John Burt SR DOES NOT AUTHENTICALLY care about the job done as if it was his OWN home. John Burt Sr. will rather shamelessly take EVERY shortcut imaginable. John Burt Sr suffers from grand mythomania.
ATTN: John Burt Sr... What is important to your client should be important to you; it is unfortunate that someone of your character and work ethic has taken on the job of being a GC for family homes. You are most unfortunately in the business of handling one of the costliest, and most important, investments of a person’s life and handle it like it's a used car transaction.
