image I had a tour at Brookdale and was very impressed by the professionalism of the staff. The activities, the dinner, & the residents looked like they were having a great time with music. Bring your loved ones here.

image Gardens at Northridge has some of the kindest, attentive, & caring staff I have had the pleasure to work with! On top of the excellent care provided, this community is very clean & super beautiful. This community makes for a wonderful new home for a loved one. If you or a loved one is needing an assisted living community, I highly recommend you visit Desire, their Director of Sales who is absolutely amazing at what she does! She would be able to give you a tour where youll instantly see for yourself how nice Gardens at Northridge is!

image My dad was moved here from a hospital and spent his last days here. The staff was incredible and supportive in my father's last few days. They took care of him and us, bringing us food when we didn't leave his side, staying past hours to meet with us when he passed. I couldn't ask for a more compassionate staff.

image While my husband was there everything was fine. They have me 3 days notice (when I clearly asked for at least 2 weeks notice) they were sending him home. I had clearly posted written instructions in his room that his family would take care of his laundry. On the day I picked him up he (my husband) told me they had taken his clothes to the laundry. I had taken some very expensive and warm clothing for him to wear while at this facility and the day they sent him home his clothes disappeared. I called repeatedly to get his clothes back and NO ONE EVER returned my calls. I went there in person to find his clothes but was not allowed to check the laundry (something I had previously been allowed to do when something went missing). It seems the closer a person gets to their 100 days allowed by Medicare, the less they care. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED! The WORST PART is they (Cheryl) hooked us up with LA Pro Home Health. This company has to be the worst company ever!!!! She assured me they only had the best, but this company is the WORST! They schedule appointments and NEVER CALL OR SHOW UP!!! I'm so incredibly disappointed with the way they have treated my 85 year old husband! The ONLY person at Brookdale I can speak highly of its the Speech Therapist Michael, other than that no one.

image April 21 - After Total Knee Surgery, prior to my going to Brookdale Skilled Nursing Home (BSNH), it was stressed by my hospital nurse and physical Therapist that I was not to walk anywhere without my walker and alwaysto have someone accompany me for safety as I was not very stable: and there was a possibility of my falling and getting seriously injured. Also, I was given post-operation instructions that I was to have my knee iced 3-4 times daily; and, I was to have calf cuffs placed on my calves nightly to help reduce/avoid blood clots.April 22 - I arrived at BSNH at 5:30 p.m. with a post-operation pain of about 7 (Based on a Scale of 1-10). I informed the admitting nurse that I was in pain and the pain was increasing. He said he would have to get authorization. I understood. So, I waited. After waiting one hour, the pain was at 10 based on the aforementioned scale. I contacted the nurse and he said he did not have authorization yet. It took 3 1/2 hours to get authorization while my pain level was increasing beyond the 10 level and before I was approved for pain medicine.1. Despite my numerous attempts for assistance, I could not get anyone to accompany me when needing to walk to the bathroom. I took the risk of going by myself.2. Never, while at BSNH, was my knee ever iced to minimize swelling.3. Never, while at BSNH, was a calf cuff placed on my legs to minimize/prevent blood clots.I understood that I was not the only patient at the nursing home; nor, was I the most important patient at the home. However, I feel I was entitled to a fair amount of post-operative attention and treatment to deal with my pain and discomfort. However, it appears to me that I received less than the minimum about of attention and treatment possible.Because of a lack of response to the assist button, I started using a stopwatch to see how long it would take an employee to respond to my assist requests (or lack of assist requests) when I needed them.April 23 - I awoke in pain. I pressed the assist button for help. I waited 40 minutes before I hailed someone walking down the hallway to request help for my pain. Later that morning I needed to go to the restroom. Again, I pressed the assist button for help.  Again, I waited 40 minutes for help. Since no help came, again, I took a chance of going to the restroom by myself.Later that morning, I needed to use the restroom again. Again, I pressed the assist button for help. Again, I waited 40 minutes for help. Again, since no help came, I took a chance of going to the restroom by myself. In the late morning I needed pain medication. I pressed the assist button for help. Again, I waited 40 minutes for help. This time I walked to the doorway. I saw an employee at the end of the hall. I waived to her for help. She looked at me and walk the other way. After a little while, I had to hail someone walking down the hallway to request pain medicine. At 2:30 p.m. I needed to use the restroom. I pressed the assist button. At 4:00 p.m. a nurse came by and asked if I needed assistance. Really? What was his first clue?April 24 - I needed to use the restroom in the middle of the night. I pressed the assist button. As usual, no one came to assist me. As usual, I took a chance and went to the bathroom by myself. During the morning, still, no one answered the assist button for bathroom breaks. Except for three occasions, I cannot remember anyone answering the assist button. In my opinion, it was as if the staff were told not to assist me for some reason. At each meal that I ordered, at least one item on the list delivered was incorrect. I ate it anyway rather than argue about it. I chose what I wanted for my final dinner off the menu. I ordered chopped beef, they delivered ground chicken. When I told the delivery person that I ordered chopped beef, he insisted that I had chopped beef. I told him it was chicken. I informed him that beef and chicken had distinct colors and textures and do not look alike. Nonetheless, he insisted that it was chopped beef.He insisted that I take a bite and to see. To pacify him, I took a bite. It was chicken.I was so hungry I decided to eat the chicken anyway.Half-way through eating the chicken, the delivery person came back with another plate. He gave it to me and said, "here is your chopped beef" that I had ordered and that I was mistakenly given chicken. At this point, I was so angry that I told him to just remove all the food that I was not interested in eating. It was the final insult. After telling BSNH that I wanted to leave the facility, an LVN called my home and told my wife that I was being uncooperative and difficult; and, that I should stay if I wanted to get well soon. Then, she started using insulting names about me to my wife. (FYI: I did not know this until I got home.) Who authorized the LVN to call my wife to complain about my behavior? Why didn't she come to me directly if she had a problem? To Continue:
