Easy car buying experience. Patrick was great. Came in test drive cars and drove out with a new car all within 3 hours.

I had just bought a new car from Honda Mall of Georgia July of 2023, but I no longer needed such a big car. I took it back to them and they offer such a low amount to buy it back. The car had less than 2k miles on it and it was perfect. I left their and went to CarMax and they offered me fair price over $4k more than Honda did. So I made the deal and it was a smooth transaction.

I bought my van (2019 Kia Sedona) at a different CarMax (Kennesaw), which I'll review separately, so this review concerns the warranty service at this location. I will say this: the customer service people here are friendly, but I had an incredibly frustrating experience overall. Right after buying the van, we noticed some issues, both with "shakiness" (ended up being CV axles) and the check engine light came on during a long trip we took not long after buying the vehicle. No worries, I thought, CarMax cars have a good warranty. Ultimately though, the next few months of owning the car became a nightmare of scheduling appointments (which are always a week or two in the future) just to have the car looked at, and then having to wait for parts to come in before you can schedule another appointment (again, two weeks in the future). When I finally got my van in for the initial repairs, they kept it FOR A MONTH. They provide a loaner that time, which I appreciated, though at first it wasn't even a car big enough for my family. In the end, they had to replace an incredible amount of stuff: front cv axles, fuel injectors, ignition coil, spark plugs, rear suspension, etc. etc. And after all that, the car drove more poorly on the way home from the shop than when I brought it in. And after a month or so, the check engine light comes on again. I knew the van as a whole was no longer under warranty, but since it was the engine light again and it seemed to be affecting engine performance, I thought it could be related to the check engine light/fuel ignition systems that were repaired before, and thus should be under warranty. So I make an appointment again. I know that with the initial diagnostic appointments, they don't do loaners, and in any case, I'm expecting them to diagnose the problem the same day. WRONG. Three days of renting a car later, (on my dime) they finally tell me that there is a problem with the oxygen sensors, but since they didn't fix those specific parts before, it's not under warranty. THREE DAYS to tell me this, and all during that time, they keep saying they'll have news for me soon. But I had to CALL THEM every time to get any update. Rest assured, CarMax, you will never have my business again.
