I attempted to exchange an unopened bottle of liquor two minutes after receiving it as a gift, and Spirits of Carmine tried to falsely invoke a NY State law saying returns of unopened alcohol are prohibited.
In fact, per the State Liquor Authority, nothing in state law precludes a retailer licensed to sell alcohol -- beer, wine or spirits -- from accepting a return of an unopened product.
He finally relented (having been shown to be mistaken, or misleading) and then aggressively resorted to saying there were "signs all over the store saying No Returns". Very poor service - and for no good reason!
The weird thing is, i was not asking for money back - just an exchange - and would have even been prepared to pay a bit more if a brand I preferred cost extra! Total customer service and goodwill #Fail.
