I moved to Monterey 8 yrs ago and my husband found Lighthouse Family Dentistry through on-line reviews. We have both been very happy with Dr. Van Kooten, and the entire dental team. Dr. V is thorough and a perfectionist. I have recommended Dr. V to a few co-workers who are now regular patients. Conveniently located on Lighthouse with parking behind the building, I do not dread going to the dentist. I have called many times with an emergency and Dr. V always finds a way to squeeze me in. She truly cares for her patients.

Update: The practice has a hygienist now and she is wonderful! It was the best teeth cleaning Ive gotten in many years!
I am a new patient, so no corrective work has been done on my teeth yet. My first appointment was for xrays (only those that were necessary), exam and cleaning, then she explained every problem. I was really impressed with everything and everyone. Dr Van Kooten is the first dentist ever to show me pics of all my teeth and explain what is going on. She, her assistant Edward, and Ernst the office manager were all very friendly and helpful. She explained each problem area and left the decision up to me. I had 3 cracked teeth that need crowns, so Im having 2 crowns done in May. I will update as needed, but I can say that she was very gentle but thorough with the cleaning, she uses top notch technology, and it was a relaxing pleasant experience.

Dr. Kooten is the best dentist I have seen. Dr. Kooten is gentle and provides excellent dental care. She listens to my conerns and recommends appropriate treatment options. I live in the Arctic, but I make a great effort to fly down to CA to receive dental care from Dr. Kooten. She is absolutely the best!

Dr. Van Kooten was able to fit in a same day appointment to replace a crown. Very professional and relaxed atmosphere. I will absolutely be going back for all my dental needs.
