I closed my direct tv account a few years ago. I returned the equipment and have a receipt. Never heard anything back and never got a bill for a balance that was put on my account in error for not returning the equipment. I only found out about this error when a collection company reported me for owing $66. I disputed this charge 3 times and all three times it was removed from my credit report. This collection company waits and comes back and puts it on my record again and again.

Directv’s service and account team is just horrendous. Constant miscommunication about package deals with other ATT service, which is then never executed. We’ve been trying to combine our billing cycle for 8 months, been on the phone with them monthly. Be wary of any offers and deals - it’s always the same story. And in the end, it’s lower quality service and constant issues. Horrendous.
