BEWARE! You could be scammed by this ENTERPRISE-MADERA office!
If you come in late to pick-up for a reserved car. Whoever is exactly on time? Certainly not in airports where Im used to picking up my rental from Enterprise, Hertz, Budget or Thrifty where I NEVER had any problems with pick-up time.
My reservation was through Expedia for a Nissan Versa or similar. At pickup time, however, Brayan Lopez, Management Assistant, claimed that my reserved Versa was checked-out to a walk in renter exactly at 8am (my pick-up time). He proceeded to upsell me with a Dodge but I asked for a similar car per my reservation. He offered a Corolla but with an up charge rate. I argued that this is similar car but to no avail. I was forced to pay an additional daily rate.
I FEEL THIS WAS A SCAM:
1) Was there really a Versa for me at 8am? 2) Was the Versa really checked out by a walk-in renter? OR was this on time or being late a justification to up sell and up charge customers? How many were and are being victimized by this practice? Id like to know for a possible CLASS ACTION suit against ENTERPRISE.
On top of this scam, I was expected to return the rental car at my reserved time of 8am, not when the late pick up time which is less than 24 hours later. Again, rental car companies give you 24 hours use of the car. I think THIS IS ALSO A SCAM.
I complained to Brandon Bailey, Branch Manager, about this but basically affirmed this practice. I warned him that I will request for ENTERPRISE for investigation & documentation that: 1)there was Nissan Versa for me at 8am on my pick-up date; 2) they actually checked out this Nissan Versa at 8am on my pick-up date.
I also warned him of this google review to inform the public and assured him that the review is not personal if theyre implementing ENTERPRISE policy.
At this point, I am notifying ENTERPRISE to affirm: 1) this policy of checking out a reserved car to walk-in renters if the fully paid reservation renter is late at pick-up whether at the airport or a local office; 2) to prove documentation that there was really a Versa reserved for me at pickup time & date; 3) documentation that my reserved Versa was actually checked out by a walk in renter; 4) provide policy of what kind of car is similar to a Versa.
Pending verification of these policies and practices, I am seeking other renters and lawyers for a possible CLASS ACTION against ENTERPRISE. .
